I'm not sure how well it works alone, as it's just a list in the middle of the dark woods. Where it doesn't really belong.
Check out my fanfiction!I'm not sure if an inversion is a good idea for a page image. Plus we'd have to use pretty much all of the strip which isn't allowed. Anyway, previous thread: [1]
Sorry, my bad. Fixed the link.

please don't capitalize my handle. I just don't like it.That link goes to Add Post for this thread.
And is it an inversion? It's seems more like an unusual variation to me, where he didn't catch the mistake until after it was too late to fix it.

Check out my fanfiction! What happened to the proposed image with the animals and the tank? I kind of liked that one.
Moon◊I think it's an inversion because the trope is that a note of evil plans/safe code/something similarly interesting/important gets switched to a much more mundane one. In the suggestion, Slender takes a weird note instead of his actual grocery list.
please don't capitalize my handle. I just don't like it.Thread timed out.
That's the top panel. The bottom is the other side of the coin.

Check out my fanfiction!Ninja'd.
I'd be fine with that comic too. In fact, I think it would work with just the "the countries of egg, butter and milk" panel, since that's pretty clear on its own.

The question of whether we can use most of one day's comic out of a much larger body of work is sticky. So why don't we just ask Scott if he'll give us permission?
cropped and tweaked

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I much prefer to the one that was in the old thread.
Not sure that I will take an inversion of the trope. It will confuse whoever reads the article. If anyone has a straight example, post it here.
I really like that; it's nicer than the suggestion from the old thread.
It isn't an inversion, per se, just an amusing variation.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I agree; I don't really consider it an aversion.
@Madrugada: I've never seen anyone take issue with "using most of a comic" before. So far, the only clear statement has been that we're not allowed to use all of a comic. (And that panel isn't "most" of the comic anyway; it's 50%.)
Look, someone just ask Scott if he'll give us permission to use the VG cats one. That avoids the whole complicated mess of whether a use is Fair Use or not.
Permission to use from the copyright holder trumps all other considerations.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Email requesting permission sent.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Clock is set. Any word on this?
Nope, sorry. Do we get into prickly fair use stuff or just find a different option?
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. There have been many instances where we've used the majority of a webcomic as a page pic as page pics...I don't think we're crossing any fair use lines by doing this, although we're tiptoeing on the line. That being said, I'm not as keen on the VG Cats pic as I was before.
I don't get the VG Cats pic. Somebody explain to me why it works?
It's a parody of the game Slender. The Slender Man (creepy faceless guy) has accidentally stuck his grocery list to the tree instead of the creepy note, and taken the latter to the shop.
Clock's up; locking up. If the writer gets back to us and gives permission, PM me and I'll take care of it.
Oh Wait, This Is My Grocery List doesn't have an image. I propose the second panel of this VG Cats strip, since it's a clear illustration.
