Manga spoiler: Hakuryuu's mom is delightfully twisted.
Nice episode and I can't wait to see where things go from here.
Would be nice to see what a Shonen protagonist does with a boatload of money, but I have the slight impression that it won't take more than an episode for Alibaba to lose most if not all of it
If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.Yeah the dungeon was shorter than I thought it would be.
Did those guys really try to prevent anyone getting out by the way? That doesn't seem very effective.
"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."Because it IS very quick, if you're familiar with even the beginning of the manga. The episode titles for episode 5 and 6 are even more massive clues as to the pacing of the story.
It wasn't so much that they were preventing people from getting out as sealing it in general so that only they would chose who completed the dungeon. (More on that in future plots.) It is not like they could tell what exactly was going on in there.
@ what happens to the money: Yeah, that does seem like more than what can be conveniently carried, doesn't it? What happens to it will make sense in context and not follow the traditional ways that shonen protagonists loose money. (at least, I have never seen it before)
@ manga translation: Wow... I don't know what I was expecting, but it was not that. Well, I was sort of expecting the fight result and half of it happening eventually, but not the other half. (If anyone who reads the manga doesn't understand what I am talking about, I'll use spoilers and say it in more detail. Just don't want any accidental spoilering.)
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!Magi's pacing is good, unlike for example, Shinsekai Yori...
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.Actually, the anime went through the labyrinth even faster than the manga (there were at least a couple more traps and other stuff like that from what I recall). They probably chose to do that because the episodes wouldn't have ended in such good places if they followed the manga exactly.
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!@Manga: Dang... But he is not acknowledging people like Sinibad who is fine with it or people like that little girl who are not content with that sort of life.
(@Anime-watchers: you won't have a clue what I just said, so don't worry about it.)
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!Actually, we've pretty much caught up with the weekly releases. This means that, well, it's yet another weekly follow... which makes it worse since the chapters choose the ODDEST places to stop at (like in the middle of a conversation or in this case, the diatribe).
Okay, this episode had me smile in a lot of places.
Thus that ending hit me like a wrecking ball. That was just mean.
If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.Yep, that was the point of the episode. [self-censored potential spoiler] ...let's just say that you will be smiling again by the end of the arc.
Oh, just wondering: did anyone expect what he did with his money? It makes perfect sense in-context, but it is not a traditional way for a Shonen character to loose a ton of money.
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!Alibaba knows what do with his money. And still, it seems like he had a bit left over given his means of transportation. Unless he was just riding a caravan and nothing on that cart was his.
Also, were I that Princess I would have banned Captain Jerkface from ever coming even close to a diplomatic meeting again.
If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.I wouldn't let him near anything important. Can she not fire him?
Technically the general isn't her subordinate at all, but her brother Koen's. I'm going from what I remember from the initial chapters though, so I might be wrong (I can't check here at work).
"Dear Brother, I'm sure your dear Captain Jerkface is an incredible battle commander, with years of experience and lots of commendations, but I don't want him anywhere near a diplomatic meeting ever again"
"What did he do? He threw horse milk on the representative's daughter and then went on to claim that all of them were already under our power"
Seriously, that man has no place on a diplomatic meeting. I know its Shounen, but still.
If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.So. Who killed Granny? My money's on General dickbag. Fancy that.

Should've checked the list.
You're correct. The ambitious jerkass is trying to get Hakuei killed by Kouga proxy, and you'll see when THAT fails he'll go for a more direct approach... by sicking the army on Hakuei.
yet...that fail ever so grandiously... djin equipp hakuei...first time for anime and manga viewer (and its made by the author so its canon) quite sexy..
Yep, it's anime only, as I can confirm this time that Hakuei only summoned a hurricane shaped as Paimon to blow the army away. Then again, the producers DID say that they'll be introducing some concepts only shown much later, such as the Djinn Equips (which only showed up when Kougyoku in Balbaad). I do like the design for Hakuei's Equip, but could have we done without the nipple chains?
...Saw those on the djinn herself, didn't notice them on the equip.
Should've checked the list.My reaction (mostly) to the female genie - She is HOT! She and her master are even HOTTER together. Les Yay FTW!
But yeah... the chains are a wee bit too much. Also, I felt sad that after Aladdin finds out about magi's job to pick king candidates, it cuts away to him leaving. Would have loved to see the princess take command over the army or at the very least those stupid foot soldiers (whom she saved) begging for forgiveness.
As much as I enjoyed seeing the villain being curbstomped, I felt more annoyed with the mooks.
Plants are aliens, and fungi are nanomachines.I surprised Paimon wasn't censored for the anime actually. Was a pleasant surprise since she's kind of hot in that monster girl sort of way.
I know what you mean. The guy wasn't exactly good at keeping his mouth shut around them. So at least the guys on the ground knew that this battle they were going into was going to be pointless, and that some of them would almost certainly die anyways. Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! At least the villagers had brains.
So who do you all think is going to be king at the end? I'm betting on the princess.
Note: un-marked very minor spoilers
The obvious answer would be Alibaba, but... well, everyone who clears a dungeon has the qualities needed to be the overall/final king (some of them are already kings with their own countries). In addition, we have been told that this time of "great trouble" is turning out to be a bit stranger than the previous one(s). I would not be surprised if no-one ends up with that overall-throne.
Not such a stupid question, now is it?

Manga-related: as expected, the scans are really catching up. At this point, we're less than ten chapters from the released Shounen Sunday chapters.
