Your very first sentence indicates that it is not Just A Face And A Caption. And the trope is "dark (not "black", "dark") does not always mean evil". A picture of Bats looking less "dark" (scary, threatening, ominous) would not be anywhere near as good of an illustration.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Yeah, here I feel that Batman is juuust famous enough to escape JAFAAC...
Keep Until Better Image Suggested
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSince this is a trope with medium-specific subpages...
Motion to move the current to the Comic Book subpage
None of the subpages have an image, so I'm fine with keeping it on the main page.
Check out my fanfiction!Looking evil but being good is what Dark Is Not Evil is about.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Kind of a late reply, but maybe we could find a picture of Batman doing something good?
I wonder what's for dinner?Batman being dark and good at the same time brings the intro to Batman The Animated Series to mind.

I tried to find the scene in The Dark Knight Returns (comic or film) where Batman has the kidnapped toddler but I couldn't find it anywhere.

That would be nice.
I can't think of anything good for a signature.I found this image of Batman. The unconscious guy in his hand might seem to play against this trope even though he's a villain, but we could just crop him out. I think that Batman looks "dark" even by his own standards here, and the speech bubble helps to illustrate the "good" part of him.
That's a good image, though I hope it looks good if we crop out the wide picture.
I can't think of anything good for a signature.Yeah that looks good, but it may look better if we cut out a little more of the left and bottom, his head and the speech bubble should be the main focus.
This image relies half on the speech bubble, which is also rather small and won't attract the attention of a reader as much as the definitively-evil-looking facial expression. That is a bad proposal.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe speech bubble is in a color that contrasts with the rest of the image, so the eye owuld indeed notice it.
I have a message from another time...It's pretty easy to make the speech bubble bigger, and I'll do just that in a few. But on the whole, I'm not really a fan of the suggestion either.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.@15 Perfect! That definitely gets my vote.
@16 Are we looking at the same image? I have no problem reading the speech bubble.
I don't know, that "Can I help?" sounds kind of sarcastic or like a taunt to me for some reason. Anyway, there's no way you can miss these bubbles:

please don't capitalize my handle. I just don't like it.Not bad.
Check out my fanfiction!Should we include the unconscious guy?
I kinda figured he wasn't particularly important to what we were trying to portray, and might've even confused the issue if he remained, so I cropped him out for the most part.
Moon◊Fair point. I'm fine with either the last version of the original comic pic or the one with the blown-up bubbles.
Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
Even though Batman is a well known example of a man dressed in black that is a good guy, I'm not getting that from the current image. To me he look more evil than good.
Pull or should we keep it for now?
I can't think of anything good for a signature.
