Gush About ''Other'' Cultures/Demographics/Nationalities You Like:

NCC - 1701
We have many threads for gushing about aspects of your religion, hometown, country, or ethnicity you like. Well, in the rather cosmopolitan spirit of TV Tropes, I'd like to hand out gushes for the famous "Other".

Guys gushing about girls. Heteros gushing about LGBTQs. Civilians gushing about the military. Swedes gushing about Canadians. If there's someone not of the Earth out there who wants to gush about how Humans Are Special, we'll take that too. So....have at it gang!

I'll start off. As someone from the East Coast, I have to say that the Pacific Northwest is really that green, really that clean, and the people really are that nice (even if frustratingly laid back tongue).

Heteros gushing about LGBT Qs

Enter Hopey.

Oh!

The Dutch! For giving us Edam cheese, and for the creation of the model of the nation-state.

The Brits have a far, far better sense of humor than we Americans do.

We do?

If you call sardonism humour, then sure.

I grew up on your stuff, so that's part of it.

The Brits gave us...America. And Canada. And Doctor Who. And Sherlock Holmes. And James Bond. And abolition.

Damn, the British are AWESOME.

[up][up][up][up]And better "cookies, " from what I hear. I have heard only good things about tea biscuits. Also, they actually drink hot tea. And I imagine they do it PROPERLY. None of this tea bag nonsense...grumblegrumblestupidAmericangrocerystoresgrumble...

We also gave you the steam engine. And democracy. tongue

We also gave you Piers Morgan and Simon Cowell. On behalf of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, I apologise.

@ Zar. We use teabags. But none of the crappy stuff you guys have. Tetley, PG Tips - that's pure British stuff.

...There are good tea bags? WHAT SORCERY IS THIS?!

Oh, and I just remembered: I actually really love Japanese culture, and it bugs me when people dismiss it as "crazy." Granted, I love it entirely because it gives me some of my favorite games - Legend of Zelda, Kid Icarus Uprising, the Mario games, just to name a few.
Sigh
I really like Russia for some reason. I liked learning the language whilst I had the patience.

Germany's also like that.

Though I really like the French too. They're genuinely nice people in my experience.

@ Zar. Teabags here are pyramidic, which are much better for flavour; not like that weird tampon thing you use.

Mmm hmm.
I am a Korean, but I am very fond of (more postive aspects of) American culture.

I am very attracted to British and German cultures too.

Oh, I generally gush for other European states besides my own. You all speak different languages, you all do things differently to each other, but by gum, you all seem pretty cool.

...which marks the latest in a long line of remarks I have seen my fellow British make describing American teabags as "tampons". What the hell do you lot do to them?!

Anyway, I like Canada.

[up][up][up][up]Actually, I've seen the pyramidic ones rising in popularity here, too. Or as much as they CAN "rise in popularity" when no one here drinks the gorram things.

Still, I'll take loose leaf any day.

[up]We stock grocery store shelves with them and they sit there until the end of time. EDIT: Oh, "TO them." Thought you said "WITH them."

@ Pag. Have you seen them? I seriously thought that Americans liked putting tampons into their water until it was pointed out that it was bloody tea.

bloody tea.

Heh heh.
It eluded us then, but that’s no matter —tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther ... And one fine morning —

I'm a Christian who believes in traditional gender identity and traditional marriage. I don't agree with the pro-LGBTQ side.

But they are the Real Life Trope Codifier for Worthy Opponent. Or perhaps, Fire-Forged Friends.

Oh!

I can actually thank you Americans for giving us The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Friends, and about 95% of my music catalogue.

I apologise for dubstep. If it helps, we hate it here too.

And also, a thanks for... errrrm. Errrm. Brownies. They're tasty.

I've been thinking recently about what it must be like to have a large part of one's mediasphere not be in their native tongue. These days Hollywood makes more money internationally than in the U.S. With our entertainment industries being the 800 pound gorilla in world media, it's weird to think that most people in other countries are at least aware of what we're making, but we often can't even be bothered to pay attention to British, Canadian, and especially Australian stuff, which is at least in our own language.

I think it's probably less that you can't be bothered, and more that Hollywood's advertising at home and abroad is truly titanic.

It's so titanic, I hear people say the date as "October Fourth" and not "Fourth of October" too many times.

First of all, the BBC makes the kind of TV I want to watch. So good job there.

And shout-out to Jupiter and Saturn for being really big planets!
It doesn't make much of a difference to me. Though, I can only speak English.
