.

So after editing Kid Paddle — I added the mention that the comic's named after the character, you know — I noticed it shows only "the character". I went to the edit box. It went "the character".

So I wonder, is it TVT's own case of Scunthorpe Problemtitular — or just some unrelated bug? Did I miss something?

I'm starting a thread here 'cause I don't know of an applicable megathread around.

It's about the word "titular" itself. I'm not really sure why, but Eddie put a filter into the wiki parser that makes it disappear.

Yeah, that particular word's been declared Excommunicate Moronus because of rampant misuse. I really don't care for the decision myself, but it's a word I almost never use, so it's not that big of an issue for me.

Misuse? Do you mean, using it in one of its several correct meanings?

If it was actually MISUSED I wouldn't have a problem with it, but it's used this way by both the majority of speakers as well as most major dictionaries. Whether or not it sounds funny to you or Fast Eddie, it's correct.

I'm convinced that our modern day analogues to ancient scholars are comedians. -0dd1
