Hansel & Gretel and Jormungand's Jonah. Both characters from somewhat similar series. Both are children who grew up under inhuman circumstances and managed to survive despite great difficulties. I'd like to know wether or not you think they'd get along and why.

Hansel and Gretel are two Romanian twins about ten years old who were giving away to a state-run Orphanage of Fear because their parents were too poor to raise them. After the Orphanage was shut down they and the other children were sold on the black market and landed in the hands of the Sicilian mafia, who forced them kill other children just in snuff films or face the same fate. In their desparation they learned to enjoy killing, becoming deranged, sadistic hired guns for the mafia.

However, they also have a very deep and loving relationship and unquestioning loyalty toward each other as well as conplete faith in the other's abilities. They recognize and appreciate kindness, even though the fact that they're completely unused to being treated kindly means that they might repay kindness in unusual ways (people who have watched the episodes concerning them woll know what I mean.)

Now, Jonah is a boy roughly around the same age who lost his parents in a bombing and grew up as child soldier. As a result he is usually a somewhat stoic andtacituen person, though he can still smile and be a kid at times. He hates weapons and arms dealers, though he becomes more accepting of both as time passes after being recruited by Koko, who he become somewhat of a surrogate younger brother and Morality Pet for.

My opinion: Wether Jonah and the twins could get along greatly depends on how they'd first meet. If they met as enemies things would certainly involve a lot of bullet and bloodshed and most likely end in tears for one side. However, if they met as allies or on a neutral standing they could probably learn to get along. Initiately, Jonah would probably be somewhat uncomfortable around them because of their unstable psyches and their love for killing, though he could probably still appreciate their effectiveness in the field.

As time passes he might become somewhat of a Blue Oni towards them, with the twins trying to get behind his stoic mask and him balancing out their cheerful insanity. Since Jonah doesn't seem prone to striking or verbally assaulting them it's unlikely they'd kill him just because they don't like the way he talks to them. The twins, on the other hand are usually polite enough to not openly critizise opinions and word views that differ from theirs. Instead, they're easily amused by them. They also seem rather affectionate with people they like, with no concept of personal space (which Jonah is already used to by Koko).

Both the twins and Jonah are highly effective in combat and possess sharp instincts, with Hansel and Gretel often using their cute and innocent appearance and polite demeanor to get the drop on their victims before going with the flow while still capable of coming up with effective plans if the need arises, which combines nicely with Jonah's tactical knowledge. Jonah can also handle a large number of different weapons, whereas Hansel and Gretel prefer to stick with specific weapons.

Koko has been shown to have an eye for skilled and quirky people, as well as a habit of recruiting the same. She, Lehm and Valmet would probably be able to rein the twins in somewhat if necessary. With Koko's number of enemies their'd be no shortage of opportunities for the twins to satisfy their bloodlust, while at the same time being surrounded by people they like or at least get along with and who won't try to rape or betray them might even help them calm down enough that they can learn to follow orders instead of just doing things because they want to.

I apologize for the rather lengthy post (I've had this in the back of my head for some time now). I'd really appreciate any co0nstructive input. Please let me know if I forgot anything ^^

Hansel and Gretel should meet Tsukuyomi. Or maybe that harmonica playing kid from Cowboy Bebop.

I guess meeting either of these two would just result in a lot of bloodshed and bullets. I'm sure it'd be intersting to watch and they'd enjoy themselves either way, but I'm more curious how things would work out between the twins and Jonah.

Seriously, someone should write a fanfic about Koko hiring them. There's so much potential for a great story.

It was supposed ot be one at first, but then I realized that it might be too "bloggy" and lengthy to be a forum game.
