Anyway, probably not. The way I've got the Echidnas set up in Blue Horizon is that on Mobius, there's only one Echidna still kicking; Knuckles. Everyone else died out before the series started. (Like the games.) The only other place where Echidnas are still thriving is the Twilight Cage, which is where all the other Echidna characters like Lien-da, Finetivus, and Julie-Su/Shade come from. But I'm not really sure where Alucion would fit into all this. Maybe she could be Imperiator Dimitri's third granddaughter alongside Lien-da and Shade, but I'm not really sure what else I'd do with her. Though I guess it wouldn't hurt to give that comic some representation. Eh, we'll see.

Maybe her clan was a rival to Tikal's tribe? They're pretty similar.

Part 2 of Remembrance (Chapter 36,) is up and boy, is this one a doozy. Basically, both Sticks and Johnny remember their pasts and, well, let's just say they've been through some shit. I will say that this is the first time I've explained somebody's past through a flashback. One of the nice things about prose is you have a bit more leeway in having characters talk about their pasts rather than doing a full flashback because the reader can just imagine what the characters are talking about as they're saying it, but sometimes, you still need a full flashback to really hit home. And I'm hoping I've done just that.

Chapter 37 (Rembrance: Part 3) is up. This one mainly gets our heroes from Point A to Point B while also giving Tekno her own little upgrade, but it does still give us some nice character moments in the middle. Also, props to anyone who can guess what Zone the not so EVIL (TM) base is supposed to be. Here's a hint: It ain't in any of the Genesis games.

Chapter 38 (Remembrance, Part 4) is up. We finally meet the one responsible behind the vibrations; Dr.Ahem Alcubus from the Fleetway comics, though he's still working for Eggman here. We also get Lightmare from the same comic and Dragonbreath from Ao St H/Bean Machine. Here, it turns out Lightmare's on loan from Draco, Sonia's father, so anyone familiar with Fleetway might be able to figure out his true identity from that alone. (HINT, HINT) We also get the full details of Ahem's plan and, well, it's nuts. Ahem basically makes Eggman look like a sane and reasonable individual by comparison. Other than that, that's about it.

Chapter 39 (Remembrance, Part 5) is up. This one shows what Lightmare can really do while also taking a deeper look into these characters' psyches; their deepest fears and insecurities. Amy fears that not only will Sonic reject her but that she also doesn't truly love him; she only loves the idea of being in love him. Shortfuse is afraid of the Badnik program still being in there and taking over. Tekno is afraid of becoming the Hollywood definition of autistic and that part of her might actually be that. So on and so forth. Anyhoo, next Chapter should hopefully wrap this arc up, but that's what I thought about the last Chapter. We'll see how it goes.

Looking for some Resident Evil crossover fics. Particularly ones where Wesker is the Big Bad.

Chapter 40 (Remembrance, Part 6,) is up, and it brings this arc to a close. There's some decent fights and the day is saved, but on top of that, a couple of characters also get promoted to field leaders: Johnny and Amy. I honestly wasn't expecting Amy to get that kind of position so soon, but she's proven herself to have the makings of a strong, capable leader, and that's something Johnny can see.

It might also have to do with Amy starting to get over herself and her obsession with Sonic. This doesn't mean Sonamy is null and void, but it does mean that if they do get together, Amy and Sonic will have to start from square one and slowly, gradually fall in love. Like normal people. Not that stalker nonsense with Amy in the games. It was fine to start Amy off here, but after this, we're more or less done with it.

Anyway, next time we're getting a short little Breather Episode with Cream, but after that, we're finally bringing in Uncle Chuck. And as anyone familiar with Sat Am or Archie can guess, it's not going to end well.

Chapter 41 (A Day in the Life of Cream) is up, and even though it's a Breather Episode by comparison, it deals with some pretty heavy stuff. Basically, while this version of Cream is still a cute little darling, she also has issues. Issues she refuses to deal with. For an adult, this would be one thing. For a kid, it's another. So this Chapter is about finally learning to let it all out and deal with it. That said, it isn't something that's just going to go away overnight. She acknowledges she's a bit fucked up and takes steps to start addressing it, but it's something that she's going to have to deal with for a long while to come. Especially after she starts fighting again.

Next Chapter, new arc and Uncle Chuck! (Better bring out the handkerchiefs...)

Chapter 42 (Rules of War, Prologue,) up. Not a lot happens here, but it does set things up and introduce Uncle Chuck. Next Chapter is where things really heat up.

Chapter 43 (Rules of War, Chapter 1) is up. Not as much happened as I thought it would, but that's mostly because I ended up splitting the Chapter in two. Original;y it was in two halves; one where the FF learn about Eggman's latest scheme and another where Chuck and Eggman have it out. But it was when Chuck and Eggman's little pow-wow reached over 3000 words that I realized it would work best as its' own Chapter. So here we are. With any luck, that'll be up in just a few days.

That said, this Chapter does introduce Geoffery St.John. It's not too apparent here, but he's working for Naugus from the start this time. If he ever comes across as an asshole, at least he's meant to. We also start to see Sonic and Sally develop feelings for one another, though it's by no means blossoming into a full blown relationship just yet. I won't pull a Will They or Won't They?, but these things still take time. I actually wasn't sure if I'd put these two together, but as I was writing that first scene, I realized that underneath the differences, Sonic and Sally actually have a lot in common. Even if it can be hard to see it. They do have their differences — major differences — but I think there are enough things in common between them that they can work. They'll have to work at it, but what relationships don't involve work?

Chapter 44 (Rules of War, Chapter 2) is up, and a lot sooner than I thought it'd be. This entire Chapter is basically a one act play; a lengthy conversation between Chuck and Eggman that touches on the relationship between the two while also going into Eggman's backstory.

One of the things I wanted to do with this series was establish why someone would become a puppy-kicking Mad Scientist and evil overlord. After all, any good villain should see themselves as the hero of their story. But as fun as Eggman can be, he doesn't always have much of a motivation beyond "I'm evil! I wanna take over the world! MWAHAHAHA!" Sonic Adventure 2 hinted at some deeper motivations with being inspired by his Grandfather and being livid at what GUN did to him, and Adventures showed he was kind of a loser in high school, but neither went all that deep into it.

Blue Horizon takes both backstories and runs with them, showing him using what was done to his grandfather as an excuse to get back at the world he felt wronged him growing up. He keeps trying to say he just wants to avenge Grandpappy (who he never actually met by the way), but it's really all about him, and none of this excuses his actions. But he's too far gone to see it.

Chapter 45 (Rules of War, Chapter 3) up. Not much happens this Chapter, but there is a decent amount of nice character interaction and development, mostly between Sonic and Amy. And Swifty gets a chance to show what he can really do.

Next Chapter: Aquatic Ruins and Team Johnny.

I've thought about starting a Tropes page for my own fic from to time. At 51 Chapters and counting, there's probably enough material for it. What I really want though is to get it on the Recommendations page already. I asked someone if they could put it up months ago, but I never got back from them. That said, it's not like I'm obsessed with getting one. That way lies madness. But it would be nice to see it up there.

You can make pages for your own works.

Only rule is that you can't trope YMMV stuff or Trivia that's not actual fact citable in published material/author's notes.
