I'm seriously pissed off at both religion and atheism right now

Sorry, I'm just a little frustrated.

Though I don't belong to either group, I don't "hate" religion or atheism, I hate stupidity. Unfortunately, I've been coming across way too many stupid people on both sides (but a lot more on the atheist side recently, and I'm also going to complain more about them).

I love it when an atheist or religious person perceives that something a person on their side said is stupid or nonsensical, but that's very rare.

So, what am I calling stupid?

The inability of most people on either side to consider the possibility that they are wrong. Those endless posts about how everyone who isn't an atheist is an idiot. Those endless moronic posts assuming that the world is divided between "christians" and "atheists". Religious posts are annoying, yes, but what makes atheist posts equally or even more annoying is the relentless arrogance of atheists, because so many atheists seem to think that being an atheist automatically makes you a f***ing genius.

I'm tired of going to sites to see funny things but instead being forced to see religious/atheist bullshit.

And I KNOW that there will be people on both sides (but mostly atheists) defending their side in this thread. I don't care. I don't care what you believe in, you don't have to be OBNOXIOUS about it.

That's all.

I think you should take this to OTC. Besides, I don't really think that launching a frustration thread is a good thing to do.

Oh, this would never be accepted in OTC, because it's a frustration thread. Well, I had to post it somewhere.

/shrug/ I'll be blunt.

As an atheist, I'll admit the possibility that a god, or gods, or Flying Spaghetti Monster, or whatever else may have caused the Big Bang.

Because we honestly do not know what caused the Big Bang.

Science currently tells us that, mathematically, the existence of "nothing" before the Big Bang could give rise to quantum fluctuations in that nothingness (despite there being nothing there to fluctuate - I don't claim to understand everything in physics [lol]) that could cause the Big Bang. It also tells us that we could well be part of a multiverse, and our universe arose due to a fluctuation in some other universe, and has given rise to its own children universes during its existence, and so on and so forth.

But we don't know what caused the Big Bang. So, if someone wants to attribute that to a higher power, I'm fine with that.

I just think anyone claiming the Earth is 6000 years old or that evolution is wrong is utterly unaware of reality.tongue Because fact is fact.

[up]Yeah. As long as you know that not every non-atheist believes in this 6000 year old thing, it's fine.

I'll not even mention what I believe in, the last thread was a mess and nobody understood it.

I don't really know if frustration threads will be much excepted here either. :p I mean, there's a reason that IJBM was gotten rid of.

I'll just enjoy it while it's open. Do I have to create a blog to complain about things?

That or vent in already existing megathreads for a bit. The angst thread might work?

AND WE MAY start a large argument PROVIDE ADVICE.

^Given that these are deva and you get there solely by merit and they may not even be physical beings...

I'm guessing no.

On a tangential note, apocryphal Christianity is pretty neat. :3

You're really not. Much as I love talking about religion I am growing tired of "debating" it. And getting jumped on for mentioning things. And feeling a need to go "But we're not all retarded..." when I see it.

I don't even think there's an "official" name for my convictions. There's a bit of deism, a bit of agnosticism and a lot of original thought. But I won't try to make anyone believe in it anymore.

Well when you're a being who may not be physical that exists in a nigh constant state of euphoric bliss I guess lack of booze is a minor concern?

There are stupid annoying people.

Atheists and theists are people.

Therefore some theists and atheists are stupid annoying people.

And sad to say, but that's not chaining anytime soon.

That's the point for those seeking Enlightenment. Refusing booze can gain you merit, but I suppose someone who drinks could gain enough to reach the Deva realms.

Devaship isn't Enlightenment. Nor is it a goal you should strive for.

@Aon: Is there a Deva of booze? And would they be able to conjure it at will?

(Just to be absolutely sure, you know I'm just kidding around, right? I'm not meaning to be insulting in any way, just silly.)
