Interestingly enough, apparently The Wolverine is NOT another prequel or a sequel to X-Men Origins. It's set years after The Last Stand:
Jean Grey is gone, most of the X-Men are disbanded or gone, so there’s a tremendous sense of isolation for him.
...
please let Rogue be in this.
My love for Rogue knows no bounds.
...well, a few. but those are few and far between.
ophelia, you're breaking my heartBut her character arc is over. Plus, Paquin's gone on to other things.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Greathttp://www.slashfilm.com/matthew-vaughn-out-as-x-men-days-of-future-past-director/
I did not see this coming. A worrying development.
^^^^ So... the rest of the X-Men have totally ceased to be important and the plot is now totally about Wolverine? Well, at least they've stopped pretending.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Well that doesn't really bug me as it was touted and marketed as a solo Wolverine film from the beginning.
They're kind of getting their own movie, though.
^^^^Oh shit, the main reason I didn't have doubts about this movie despite the difficult to handle concept was because of Mathew Vaughn.
This can't be good.
I mean if Bryan Singer returns to directing again then it should remove some of my fears but if not....

I already didn't like the writers they picked for the film, or the attempt to merge it with the earlier movies (First Class should have been a reboot). With Vaughn leaving, I've pretty much lost interest in this one. He wouldn't leave it for no reason, not after First Class went fairly well, so it's worth assuming he has issues with how they're doing it.

HOORAY!!!
Good to hear. I wonder if in the future sequences we'll get any appearances from other X-Men who haven't really gotten good showings so far. I'd love to see Bishop and Jubilee, especially since the former was a big part of the Days adaptation in the 90's X-Men show.

Another interview with Millar, sort of. He mentions that he has written up a 3-4 year plan for Fox regarding the X-Men franchise and their other Marvel properties. He says there's potential to do spin-offs of the X-Men franchise.
Now I'm thinking they might introduce Bishop or Cable in Days of the Future Past and possibly set the stage for an X-Force film down the line.
The original costume designer is being brought back. http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/JoshWildingNewsAndReviews/news/?a=69984
I was quite fond of the suits from First Class but I guess bringing back the black leather suits would make sense if the First Class team is meeting the original trilogy-era X-Men. I just hope the prequel team members don't end up in black as well.
And according to Singer, no leather outfits.

Mc Kellen and Stewart confirmed back!
Eh, I probably would've just let the old movies be, and not tried to drag them into the new franchise, but whatever, maybe they have something good planned.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.Ham-to-Ham Combat between McKellen and McFassy, please. Which with the whole time travel thing is not the least bit unlikely, really.
I wonder if this will have Cable, Bishop, and/or Rachel Grey.
Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, and Ellen Page are all coming back. http://www.slashfilm.com/anna-paquin-ellen-page-and-shawn-ashmore-join-x-men-days-of-future-past/
I'm amused by Bryan Singer's tweet saying "thank you Brett Ratner for letting them live!"
Welcome to th:|Gives credence to Famke returning, I guess. Any semblance of continuity left is going to get all wibbly-wobbly, though.
I don't have a good feeling about this. There's just too many characters to handle them all properly.
It feels like Fox saw that First Class did decently and was well-recieved by (some) fans and by critics, and decided that that provided enough of an opportunity to try to bring back the big moneymakers. But it's not at all something they planned ahead - they didn't come up with the idea of Days of Future Past until a while after they'd decided to do some kind of sequel to First Class.
Something this big can only knock it out of the park, or crash and burn, and my suspicions are leaning heavily towards the latter.
The X-men film franchise head honchos were obviously butthurt X Men Children Of The Atom newbs.
