In the novels actually...MAJOR SPOILERS Sort of The Magic Goes Away for the dragons, who retreat from the world in hibernation, as King Hiccup is an old man and the peace with the dragons will likely die with him. The dragons choose to remove themselves from the world until such a time as humanity is more like Hiccup, which may never happen.

So season 6 of RTTE, season 8 overall and reportedly the last season of the series will be released on Friday, February 16th according to the official Netflix site. This will likely mean, barring the (unlikely) release of any shorts, it'll be a full year between any release of any new HTTYD media, as the 3rd movie is slated for March 1st 2019. This would flip the release of the 2nd movie, where the last episode of Defenders of Berk aired only 3 months before, while the first episode of RTTE aired just over a year later, though at least there was the DVD release of the movie to tide over on that one.
Definitely mixed feelings from myself. On one hand, excited to see the culmination of what has been built in this series, on the other hand, over 12 months with nothing to look forward to is depressing. Hopefully there's some good episodes to watch over and over again to fill the void..

New trailer on Netflix season 6 comes out February 16th.
Watched the most recent season. It's pretty great.
And in the end, it's pretty blatantly a lead-in to the second movie - to a rather heavy handed extent, but it still worjs. We get to meet an alpha just like Drago's, though a la Anakin and Grievous in Star Wars: The Clone Wars the heroes never get to see it themselves. We see Drago himself, and the King Of Dragons lays an egg that ends up in Valka's hands, resulting in what is implied to be her Alpha being born. Also Snotlout and Fishnet abruptly fall for Ruffnut, which is kind of weird given that both of them have love interests in this series.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. The egg being Valka's alpha just raises plot holes since this season only takes place a year or two before the second movie and she already has the Bewilderbeast mask. On an unrelated note the Drago Bludvist cameo was pretty cool.
I did enjoy Drago treating Krogan the same way Krogan treated everyone else.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. While it has been implied before, I really liked those close ups showing the dragonhunter nets are woven with metal wire, providing a reason Hiccup and the group still need to do business with rope in addition to chain.

I wonder if Hiccup will have like, full facial hair this time. Even more Mr. Fanservice.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youI think I'd really like a post sequel "Dragons: Chief of Berk" series. Especially given that Valka has a very different kind of approach and desires as co-authority figure than Stoick does, which would naturally pull him into opposite conflicts to the ones he's already has.
Though on the other hand, the series would probably have to star Hiccup a little less, since the fact that he should be busy chiefing is kind of an important thing. Unless of course they have something big come up, leading him to try and take care of it personally while naming Valka acting chief in his stead. That's not necessarily a bad thing (I wouldn't mind a lot of focus episodes that featured Astrid, Fishlegs, Snotlout and the twins on their own with Chief Hiccup as a supporting character), but it is a thing that would need to be addressed for better or for worse.

I thought drago had his bewilderbeast for years already? Like, didn't he use it to slaughter an entire council of chiefs long before Hiccup was even born?
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youDrago used regular dragons he enslaved to attack the chief's meeting-all we see are a few regular dragons, and Stoic would surely have made note of a hill sized dragon being present. However, that raises a new question-if the egg Valka received was her bewilderbeast, that means it grew from egg to adult in less than a year. Likewise, the writers/director for the second movie confirmed Drago raised his bewilderbeast from an infant. If he has not acquired it by that point, that means his one also grew to maturity inside a year. So that locks them into a ridiculously fast life cycle. Honestly, I would have liked it better if Drago had acquired an infant/juvenile bewilderbeast already by the time he hauled Krogan in, and Valka's had originally been the one beneath Berserker Island, which moves after being bothered.

Also Valka is already wearing the Bewilderbeast mask so that just raises further plot holes.
Valka also said she was brought by her Dragon, Cloudjumper, to the home of the Bewilderbeast. And since it appears that the Bewilderbeast in 2 is only a Year old, and I already have problems with Cloudjumper raiding Berk/kidnapping Valka, that just raises even further questions, at least for me...
Unless their implying that the Bewilderbeast egg isn't the same one and she found a new home for it, if the third movie reveals that there is a baby Bewilderbeast at least we'll know where it came from.
Hello? Anyone still here? Poster for the 3rd movie came out, not sure if that relevant to this thread though.
So... whiite female Night Fury, huh? about time we learned more about the night fury race.
She's named an Light Fury from the teasers we have seen.
Let me take a wild guess
