Ayup.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? Can I just ask, what exactly is a 'skeptic'? What are they supposed to be skeptical about?
Anyways, the thing is that the internet and YT by extension has been primed for this sort of thing for a long time now. Social justice and feminism, by definition, are counterculture and they make a lot of people uncomfortable and unreasonable. Seriously, people who are at least cordial or even kind in many situations suddenly get very vitriolic when the subject comes up.
When you combine that with the edgy, nihilist culture of 4chan and other internet places where people say fucked up things to piss people off, it creates a fertile environment for reactionaries who are waiting for someone to cater to them and their views.
In that regard I can't help but wonder how many of these skeptic YT'ers are aware of the fact that a not insignificant sum of their Patreon money comes from reactionaries who expect to be catered to, and how that affects what they say and do.
I think a perfect way to sum it up is like this: if you search feminism on You Tube, what are you gonna get first, videos that are actually about feminist critiques, or "cringe" compilations?
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?My guess. Religion originally.

You do realize that several of Laci Greens former "friends" have started harassing her.
First off, I highly doubt that. Second off, at most I'd expect rightful criticism of her selling out to the alt right which of course the they'll pretend is "harassment" because "muh freeze peach" or whatever.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? She's a woman on the internet expressing an opinion. I have no doubt she's been harrassed before this and after this and anywhere in between.
Having seen the video, I see where she's coming from - unfortunately, non-binary(referring to the "two genders" thing) continues to be highly skeptical topic even among progressives, and the insane amount of times people confuse "sex" with "gender" while claiming nobody needs gender studies under the same breath...
It's unfortunately not an alt-right view, but a mainstream one. Naturally, that doesn't make it better, just easier to accept.
She does talk about speech, and I see her point - some people are way too fond of the same speech suppression the right once used on progressive ideas(and will be happy to use them again). Plus, being Russian, I know first-hand how easily the hate speech laws can be and are abused. However, the alt-right has beaten that horse so bad by claiming every single disagreement with them is somehow a violation of free speech...
This is just sad and unfortunate. Her posing with a red pill and her subsequent videos are so not helping. I feat she's likely to get on the road of worse...

Of course she was harassed before, I'm not denying that. Fuck, her video of breaking down after the Trump win was labelled as the stereotypical "feminist cringe". But being harassed by people she used to be friends with? I don't really see much of that. Overzealous people certainly, just not her past friends. What I've seen are people criticizing her for this. As it stands however, her points, whatever validity they have, are tainted by how the alt right are propping her up as a member.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I don;t even know who you guys are talking about ^^; What sort of videos did she used to make? Was she a gamer?
The Protomen enhanced my life. She made some videos about feminism and sexual education. Actually I'd first heard of her from an interview on Night Line.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?In terms of You Tube, Laci was pretty much the biggest Feminist. If you searched Feminism on YT, the initial results will be nothing but Antifeminist videos with the exception of hers. She did nice stuff on sex education and some basic stuff like IQ not being truly indicative of intelligence. I just found that video earlier. Top comments?
"laci green obviously has the iq of a slice of bread"
"There is something terribly annoying about this woman."
And this is all pretty tame. Look at the comment section for her actual videos on feminism or basic sexual education if you want a real horror show.
Anita Sarkeesian and Laci Green offered Feminism 101 to Internet manbabies and they proved it was too much for them. God forbid any of them try to talk to Judith Butler or someone.
Anyway, back to Laci. She was a huge star thanks to MTV and stuff. So her dating Chris Ray Gun(which by all indication is why she's doing this now) is really bad if you at all care about the fact You Tube is a toxic swamp of misogyny. She is now a contributor to it, hugging one Carl of Swindon, the guy who blamed her and all of feminism for Elliot Rodger. And if she wants to forgive him? That's her business. I wonder how she feels about the fact Sargon laughed about a girl getting murdered just over a month ago, or how he showed his hundreds of thousands of followers on Twitter where this one woman worked because she ha a "Feminist" shirt on.

Truly, people who rave on and on about "teh SJ Ws" are the easiest to drift into the other direction and right into alt-right extremism...
The thing I first heard about Laci Green for was how she got doxxed for making critical statements of Islam and Mormonism over the way they treat women while being a "white" person (apparently she's speaking from personal experience on the Islamophobia thing though). While that's shitty it's sad to see her go into alt-right extremism as if overshooting in the other direction will actually fix things.

This is why sjws are a problem.

Hate speech laws are apparently actual Fascism, according to Phillip De Franco.
So, in essence, most of western civilization (who all have hate speech laws) except the US of A are apparently fascist dictatorships.
Truly, this is the darkest timeline we are living in.
As a supporter of hate speech laws I am very disheartened to to discover that I am a secret hater of democracy.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."Basically the video says that Germany is censoring free speech on the internet by blackmailing companies with huge fines... even if the violators are from other countries.
the thing about hate speech laws is that on paper they seem like a good idea... but the problem is that most definitions of hate speech are really vague and give governments wide reaching authority to arrest anyone they dont like.

That is what always amuses me. People always say that when debating hate speech laws, but despite several western countries having some form of hate speech law not one of them ever became a dictatorship over it. In fact most of them are more functional democracies than the USA.
Even Brazil, with its extremely fragile democracy that can barely stand for 30 years without a coup, has basic hate speech laws that never caused any sort of widespread tyranny.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."They arent dictatorships... but censorship is a slippery slope. You start making rules about what people can or cant say and you run the risk of gradually descending into a dictatorship. As the old saying goes "the road to hell is paved with good intentions."
You can bring up slippery slopes all you want, but I am yet to find any evidence that is actually the case.
You could say a lot of things are slippery slopes ("Legalize alcohol and next step everyone will be doing crack cocaine!"), doesn't mean they all are.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."another problem with hate speech laws is that they allow actual Nazis and people who are actual Nazis/racial supremacists to create a narrative where they are victims of an oppressive government which leads to them getting more sympathy.
Try Russia.
Hate speech laws are blatantly abused to protect the government from criticism and punish minority ideas like equal rights. Most primarily a blatant blasphemy law is passed as a "hate speech" law and is used to, among other things, prosecute playing Pokemon Go in a church, criticizing the ROC(Russian Orthodox Church) as an organization, etc etc etc. Just recently certain groups are attempting to get a movie banned because it portrays Nicolas II in a "bad" light.
When prosecuting hate speech, the privileged religion of Orthodox Christianity and all its alt-right bullshit is heavily favored. Actual hate speech against liberals, atheists, Ukranians, anybody else who is "too unpatriotic" is naturally not prosecuted.
Basically, everything that questions the hard-right religious conservatism here is "hate speech".
Naturally, all of this comes with continuously increasing survelliance and anti-anonymity laws, so I always cringe every time the left defends those.

That is true. Fair enough.
That's still basically one example however. There are a lot others of hate speech laws functioning as they're, more or less, supposed to. Germany's a fairly healthy democracy, and this particular law hails from their system.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."I feel like this is an OTC topic. Not to shut down the discussion (this is actually a fairly interesting one), but this doesn't really feel like it's to do with You Tube.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?
unfortunately yes, the follow up video explains her reasons
