Yeah. Gonna go with the replacement.
I have a message from another time...the current isn't that bad, but your suggestion is way better
I might prefer a suggestion that is not Dr. Doom.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. Why?
If we have an image using Doom that encapsulates the trope, why search for another one simply to have one that isn't Doom?
I have a message from another time...Definitely prefer the suggestion to the current.
^^ Because that might suggest the trope is about Dr. Doom, and it's not. Tend to prefer images that aren't literal interpretations of the name, like say Whammy or Pet the Dog. "Might prefer" is pretty mild language :)

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I like Sue's pic, but for the sake of variety here's Marvel's other big Actually a Doombot offender: Nick Fury.
Caption: "Life Model Decoy: Better known as Chekhov's Gun-bot"
A live-action Nick Fury that isn't Samuel L. "Motherfucking" Jackson? I wasn't aware one existed.
Moon◊The Nick Fury picture looks more like something that would be on Artificial Human or something, it doesn't really illustrate the trope. It looks more like the hero just happened to stumble into a lab that has an android under construction. The Doombot pic shows Grimm being surprised that he's attacking a decoy instead of the real villain, which is what the trope is about.

"@[=g3,8d]&fbb=-q]/hk%fg"The Hasselhoff pic is also really grainy.
My vote goes to the doom pic.
You can't really get much better than the Doom suggestion. It shows the part about only realizing he's a fake once you've defeated him.

Yes, that is a complex idea.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Bump; anyone else?
Are we done here, then?
Jet-a-Reeno!We've got five solid votes for it and two leans in its favor, so I'd say that's good enough.
EDIT: It's up, potholed, and tagged. Locking up.

The only other one I can come up with is Fake Shapeshifter Volrath but I like Dr. Doom better.
Rhymes with "Protracted."
The problem with this image is that (I guess) we're looking at a human villain who's revealed to be a robot because of the spring. But if you don't know the character, how do you know he doesn't look like that ordinarily? It doesn't help that the image is from a circa-2003 video game, when making characters look recognizably human was somewhat difficult even if you were trying hard.
Suggestion: Possibly the first occurrence of the trope with Doom himself
To forestall the inevitable "Isn't this JAFAAC too?" objection, it isn't, because the dialogue clearly indicates that Grimm wasn't expecting to clobber a robot, but a real guy (the likeliest interpretation of "not-robot").
