This isn't objectively that bad - although the shading on the face and shoulder is pretty fucked - it's just so different from the way the character should look that I can't use it.

Sometimes I wish those myths about digital art were true.

Tried to replicate the her crazy faces from the comic, but she just ended up looking kind of drunk.

I wish I could even come close to some of those "bad drawings"

i'm stuck at what looks like glorified stick figures...

Practice is not just repeating the same thing over and over again my friend. Is all about learning something new while doing it. I think it's best to describe it more as "studying" and less as in "repeating"

I recall a newbie artist being angry (to the point of name calling) at a pro artist for the "just practice" advice. His problem? he wasn't learning, he was just repeating his same mistakes over and over again.

I advice you to start with mastering the basic shapes (I have yet to master them myself :p).

This tutorial series is a great starting point

Just drew a ship. I drew the planks on the hull perfectly curved and in line, then inked it and... *sob*

Well, I only just started drawing, but compare my first drawing (of Zangoose) to the second drawing I've done (with a really weird concept)

Will check those tutorials though. I mean, my drawing is okay right now, but I tried to do a different Zangoose and couldn't make it's left foot not look... derpy.

I am not great these day but at least I don´t use a fucking iron on my stuff to attempt to straighten it out and it still looks folded. There was worse stupid angsty teen art, but I fortunately didn´t own a scanner back then.
