Ah, well. Good luck Scotland, I hope yous are happy with your decision, and everything works out well. Honestly, Scotland's a great country either way, and I'm so happy everything went smoothly yesterday and last night. Like I said before, you could have made this decision in the middle of a civil war, or with the risk of getting killed on your way to vote, so the fact you didn't is just fantastic. Good luck with the future.

Are you posting from a dimenson where Independence passed?

Yeah call me paranoid but secessionism just seems like economical suicide. I don't have the numbers but an otherwise Scotland supporter said a lot of Dave Camerons backers were set to make a healthy profit from the economical disputes if a yes vote pasted.I know people of the yes sided seem to belive Nationalisation would result in greater economic freedoms for Scotland but rain don't follow the plow.

It's still a close call in the overall vote, more than enough to make both the government and other countries take notice.

Mark my words, if Scotland once again finds itself at odds with Westminster (and knowing the current structure of UK politics, that'll probably happen unless there's a huge shift in government), we'll be damn well seeing this again within the next ten years, give or take.

Norway.

There was a good article on why Scotland cannot be Norway, and also why that isn't even necessarily desirable. I'll try and dig it up.

Was that ever on the cards?

Norway kicks ass. They use most of the oil for long-term investments. I've been there, and I felt so comfortable. I especially love how they dress.

So it seems the Metro ran photos showing threatening graffiti pasted on polling station walls.

Words to the effect of "Vote Yes. No Voters will be shot." and the like.

Wouldn't surprise me, I seem to remember one interview the BBC did with a guy in the street where he said that he was a No supporter but wouldn't put a pro-no campaign flyer in his window because other people who had done had got a brick through their window.

And the twitter threats.

Now let's see if London makes Ottawa's mistake and thinks that they can go back on their promises now that this is over with a relatively solid No vote.

Commiserations to pro-Yes voters and supporters. Congratulations to pro-No voters and supporters.

So, how long will it take for the Westminster cats to not fulfill their promises made in this campaign and resume their daily economic and social abuse of the peoples of the UK?

I think this question can be much more effectively be discussed by not assuming that "Westminster" is one cohesive bloc.

I am immensely relieved - and pleased - that No prevailed. As Achaemenid said, RULE BRITANNIA. I was having approximately 50 heart attacks a second waiting for the results.

For those who voted Yes, I'm going to simply say that it was a well fought campaign, and I respect you, so let's not sour it afterwards. I would have hoped the same courtesy would have been extended in the event of a Yes vote. Let's put aside our differences and work together for a brighter tomorrow, eh?

Wow, looking at some of the comments on twitter right now, you'd think the population of England personally invaded Scotland and cast the NO votes themselves.
