This sounds random. Why would Nintendo want to go to the effort to buy someone else's series of 3D platformers, when they already have their own IP for 3D platformers?
Home of CBR Rumbles-in-Exile: rumbles.fr.yuku.comPrecisely.
I'm extremely doubtful of this.
There's only some very specific IPs I can see Nintendo shopping around for. Banjo Kazooie isn't one of them.

Helpful Scripts and Stylesheets here.Too early to be celebrating. It's at most a rumor right now.
I put on my robe and tinfoil hat...If this is true than Banjo-Kazooie might come to the Virtual Console!
...Why should we be celebrating Nintendo getting the rights to a Franchise Zombie starring a chain smoker?
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackBecause if anyone can whip a franchise out of rehab, it's Nintendo.
Don't Stop Me Now...All this is is wishful thinking.
If it turns out to be true, I'll eat my hat.
I'm having to learn to pay the priceI had a weird dream last night that Nintendo bought the rights to Mega Man and completely resurrected it, and it became the biggest series on the planet everyone was playing.
So this isn't exactly what I had in mind. Robots are better than bears. Hmm... What about Robotic Bears...?
Cybears?
Watch SymphogearTo be fair, from looking at JonTron's Nuts n' Bolts review, the property doesn't seem to be doing so well, what with Rare being under Microsoft.
Plus, Smith & Tinker, a company you've probably never heard of, managed to negotiate the rights to the MechWarrior games away from Microsoft, so Nintendo may not have as much trouble.

"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelThis would be fantastic. Now somebody just needs to rescue Conker from their scrapheap.
3DS FC: 1719-3694-1541Sounds too good to be true to me. Not getting my hopes unless this is actually confirmed.
Nintendo going after Banjo Kazooie would be kind of bizarre; it's not like they're hurting for 3d platformers, and BK isn't really popular enough for it to be worth the effort
Now, the article actually says that Nintendo is trying to buy RARE, which is somewhat more believeable
Yeah, it makes more sense to buy Rare, not just the rights to a single franchise. And besides, Banjo-Kazooie ain't the same without Rare's classic writing.
I'm pretty sure the concept of Law having limits was a translation error. -WanderlustwarriorTo be fair, DDR, modern Rare is pretty much classic Rare in name only.
I put on my robe and tinfoil hat...I thought I smelled coffee when I woke up.
I'm pretty sure the concept of Law having limits was a translation error. -WanderlustwarriorAnd people looked at me like I was crazy when I mentioned that Nintendo might try to do something to this effect in the future.
Please god buy Rare and please Rare stop sucking ass.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahI wonder if nintendo whipping them into shape could get Rare to stop blowing so much.
Calling it now: They're doing it to either re-release the Banjo games and make more money, or it's to get Banjo in the next SSB.
Well, Retro Studios just did a Donkey Kong Country revival...
Link.
If this is true, I'd be down with this.
