Support the pull for being misleading.
Some options to consider:
- The last panel of this Girl Genius strip
- Panels 2 and 4, or just 4, of this Real Life Comics strip

I like three and four of the second option, myself.
Also, apologies for creating the thread early.
No trouble, I liked your write-up better anyway. 3 + 4 feels like it's missing context; 2 + 4 makes for a more smooth transistion to me.

Upon further reflection, I did have the same thought, but I don't think that 2 + 4 quite works either. 2+3+4 would be fine, but that's cutting pretty close to (if not crossing) fair use boundaries.
I think there are better Girl Genius examples. Do you think you can find one of her with a bunch of clanks? I think that would do a lot better to actually illustrate the trope instead of just characters discussing it.
That was the only GG example on the page...there might be others on the work page.
EDIT: Nope...not even listed.

I have an issue with the RLC example, text carries all the weight.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Opposed to removal. The image is funny, and not thunderingly literal minded.

Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyYou can blame it on me then, I guess. It all started when I proposed the Joseph Ducreux Image Macro as a page image for Expospeak Gag, despite the rule against such pics as page images on the site (which I'm aware of, as I myself backed my suggestion with good reasons). The focus eventually shifted to the same xkcd image that's being discussed for this one trope instead.
The fact an image "can't" be used on two pages is the reason we're discussing here.
I'm from Piedmont. No relation with Piedmon, mind you!Supporting removal — duplicate image, fits Expospeak Gag perfectly, isn't an example of the trope, isn't obviously on the page as a pun so could be misleading.
The GG one is good; as Stratadrake said, in the RLC one there's prettymuch only text.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Support the removal: as pointed out in the first post, the image is not an example of macgyvering at all.
The only reason I'd support this pull is because the image is now duplicated with Expospeak Gag, and fits better there.
Moon◊Seconded.

please don't capitalize my handle. I just don't like it.I want to try with the last two panels of the same. Allow me a few moments to work some image magic.
*starts drum roll*
Here we are - had to cut the second frame down due to height issues and more importantly, the 200kb limit:
Looks good to me, but I'd take away the black...with the white background of the page, having them not show up won't be that much of a problem.
Try again?
I like the last two panels together. However, I'd love them to be the same width. Here's a version (I can probably make a little less tall if needed):

please don't capitalize my handle. I just don't like it.Better than either of the ones I had... :/
I'm good with it.
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to insinuate that yours weren't good, I just really, really like consistency. Smaller version:
please don't capitalize my handle. I just don't like it.
I prefer the larger one with equal sizes; having both panels is good.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Run #20 through the Resize link in my sig and take it down to 225 px and I think it'll be good to go...that last resize seems a little fuzzy in the text.
That's not going to work due to 200kb -> just tried it and it's still at around 240kb.
Based on discussion that started in a different IP thread here, it was determined that the current image isn't actually an example of the trope (Making a useful gadget out of scraps and pieces of junk). Rather, it's an overly complicated description for someone shooting a gun. As such...
Move to Pull the image.
