This is about taking events and changing their meaning through misleading presentation. In most media, the events have no existence outside of the presentation, so this can't happen unless you are talking about it on a very theoretical level, but that would be more Protagonist-Centered Morality. From glancing through the examples from other media, most are in-universe invocations involving news and reality shows. A few should go under Trailers Always Lie, but there doesn't seem to be rampant misuse.
It couldn't hurt to make the description more broad. It should at least mention documentaries, and news segments and whatnot.
Anything? Stumbled into this.
Still anything?
I'm the one who did a vast amount of editing on this trope's description a few months back. It was a bloody mess at the time, you can look at the history if you want. It was, however, very Reality Show-centric already, and I didn't change that.
I think the description is mostly centered on the Reality Show because it really covers the basic types of manipulation in a simplified setting. But yeah, let me see if I can generalize a few of these.
Edit: Okay, I tried to make it more inclusive, what do you think?

It looks pretty good to me.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.
Okay, I have to ask, why is the description written in a very Reality Show specific way, when it seems to occur, or at least be referenced in msot forms of media, and there aren't very many reality show examples referenced on the page?
