Caramon raised his eyes at Jacques' quick turnaround.

"It really isn't your day, isn't it? I mean, I know about bad opening hands, but this is really taking the cake. Still, I can't take it easy on you. So I think I'm going to sacrifice Meklord Army of Wisel to summon to the field Cyber Dragon!

The Meklord Army of Wisel dissolved into a glowing mass, before assuming the shape of a snake, which formed into a snake-like machine, made of white metal. (ATK: 2100)

"And now it's going to attack you directly!

The serpent reared up, and inside its mouth formed a glowing white ball of energy, which it spat at Jacques.

Jacques straightened his back as the enormous mechanical snake reared up to blast him. "Sorry, but I'm going to have to say no to that. Behold, Bottomless Trap Hole!!" One of Jacques' face-downs flipped up to reveal the card. The boy's grin widened. "Come now, you can do better than that or I'm going to be very disappointed."

Caramon pulled back his head and laughed hard.

"Why thank you Jacques! You've cleared the way for one of my greatest monsters! One so strong that it can only be summoned when one of my monsters is destroyed by a card effect, which you have kindly done for me! Now arise, Meklord Emperor Granel!"

He slapped the card down onto his disk, and a massive monster materialized, standing almost 15 feet high. Golden colored quarter-domes served as its legs, while it's body hummed as an infinity symbol appeared in an opening on its chest. One arm was a massive claw, while the other was a giant cannon. An almost comically stubby head appeared ontop, with a single "eye" glowing red. (ATK: 0)

Caramon grinned happily. "This card is one of the most powerful ones in my entire deck, and I'll show you by introducing you to its first ability! It's attack and defense points are equal to half of my Life Points!" The monster glowed fiercely for a moment, seeming to gain strength. (ATK: 0 -> 4000) "And while it may seem to have the power of a high level monster, it's level is actually 1, which lets me equip it with this card, Opti-Fine Camouflage!" He slapped another card down on the disk, and Granel was covered in a shimmering field. "This is a special equip card that can only be equipped to a level 1 monster, but it has a powerful effect: Namely, it allows the monster it is affected to attack directly! Now go my Emperor! Attack him using Granel Judgement Cannon!"

The monster shimmered out of existence, reappearing directly over Jacques. It aimed at him with its cannon, energy charging in the barrel before unleashing it.

Jacques howled with laughter. "Now that's more like it!! Here's a monster who can kick my ass." The boy's beady black eyes glinted with passion. "Or rather, it would if I wasn't prepared! Time to take a dose of your own medicine! Magic Cylinder go!!"

A pair of bizarre looking barrels appeared in front of Jacques, one consuming the blast while the other shot it right back at Caramon.

Caramon had no time to react, but was slammed by the redirected energy. (Life Points: 8000 -> 4000) As his life points fell, his Emperor fell in power as well, weakening. (ATK: 4000 -> 2000)

He groaned and stood up, shaking off the blast, his eyes glinting. "Well, now we have a duel, don't we? Turn End."

"Oh yeah. Let's just hope you don't beat yourself before I get a shot, eh? Draw!!" Jacques' temper was running incredibly thin. Muttering French curses under his breath, Jacques waved his hands after setting one card face-down.

He had been doing his best to ignore the temperature, but he could only tune out all the comments about it for so long, and after he commented on it to Sigmund, he really couldn't ignore it any longer. Having seen Art and Roxas' duel to its conclusion, Mort took some time to sit down to the side for a while and watch everyone, hopefully cool off a bit in the process. He had been hoping that trying to listen to the different conversations would prove distracting.

Unfortunately, it wasn't working. On the other hand, another duel had started up. 'Caramon's dueling Jacques.' he noted, 'And they're both starting with some pretty big moves, too.' Deciding that one better than listening to others talk would be to talk himself, Mort got up and made an attempt at socializing. He glanced around, looking from face to face as he tried to find someone to try and talk to. Caramon, despite being the one he had spoken the most with already, was out. It just wouldn't do to bother him during a duel. Jacques was out for the same reason. It would be nice to talk with his dormmates and get to know them a bit, but Mort had yet to identify any of them.

"Hey, Sigmund?" said Mort as he walked up to the person in question, having decided to talk with a person whom he could at least name rather than hunt around for his dormmates. Besides, it's not like socializing with people from the other dorms was bad. He was talking with some others, so hopefully, Mort would be able to smoothly integrate himself into their conversation. "Do you know how long we've been here? I forgot to check the time when we arrived." he asked casually. While he really didn't know how long they had all been in the lounge, such innocent questions tend to be good excuses for stepping into a group of other people.

"Oh, sure."

He looked on the current duel. So much life points being lost in such short order...wow.

"This last turn has certainly been a big one. Caramon's life points have taken a huge hit, but he still has field advantage. Jacques definitely has a lot of fight left in him, but I'm not sure that is going to be enough. What's your take on things, Art?"

He crossed his arms in front of him, thinking about the duel.

"Well, given that decreasing life points decreases that Machine Emperor's attack points, the right series of moves could lead Jacques into a better position."

Sarah strolled through the lounge. One duel had just finished and another was in progress, she wanted a part of the action. Glancing around, she soon found someone that didn't seem to be too busy at the moment.

Grinning, she approached her target. A young lad with a hooded jumper wrapped around his waist. Making sure her deck was in place, she waved to Justin. "How's it going?" she called, "Any chance of a duel?"

"Eh?" Turning at the sound of someone's voice, Justin found himself staring at a slightly older student. With a small smile, he replied, "Well... I don't see why not, I think we still have time! Oh, I'm Justin!" he greeted, extending an arm for a handshake. "I use the Elemental Heroes, so watch out, my fusions are deadly!"

Truthfully, Justin wasn't sure how long they had, but even if it had to be a quick duel, he didn't mind.

The girl could barely hold back her laughter. An Elemental Hero player? That was just brilliant. "Hehe. Well, let's see how they go against my Destiny Heroes." she replied, taking the boy's hand. "I'm Sarah, nice to meet you Justin."

"Destiny Heroes?" Justin repeated with some surprise. Those were the ones that made an E-Hero deck seem easy to use by comparison, right? This girl must be really good at the game to be using those...

"Well then, no time to waste, huh?" Justin asked. "Let's see who has the superior heroes, then!"

Excitedly, Justin placed his deck within his duel disk, taking position away from Sarah. "Good luck! Not that you'll need it, I bet."

"Heh, sure thing." the girl replied, making sure her deck was in place. She took a couple of steps back and activated the device. Elemental Heroes, eh? They were a fair bit simpler than her heroes, odds were good that she'd need to use the Vision Heroes to stand a chance.

"Good luck to you too. Oh, are you going first or should I?" she asked, smiling pleasantly.

Caramon drew his card, and sighed upon seeing it.

"That's not helpful at all. Well, let's make the best of it! Meklord Emperor Granel, attack again!"

The Emperor repeated its disappearing and reappearing act, before firing a significantly less powerful blast at Jacques again.

"I'll go first, if you don't mind!" Justin said. When both duelists were ready, Justin began the match.

Drawing his first five cards, and then one more, a small smile was upon his face. Not a terrible hand, he thought. At the very least, he had a chance of bringing out something strong fairly soon...

"I activate the magic card, Future Fusion!" Justin declared, placing the magic card into his S/T zone. Now, after two of my standby phases have passed, I can summon a fusion monster! Now I just have to discard the relevant monsters from my deck!"

And with that, Justin searched for the two cards to be sent to the grave yard. One was Avian, the other Bubbleman. He'd have preferred sending Necroshade instead, but that wasn't quite possible...

With those two monsters in his gravayard and his deck newly shuffled, Justin continued with, "And next, I'll summon Burstinatrix in attack mode and end my turn!"

Justin placed the monster on the field, and a pale, female figure cloaked in flames appeared, with the visual representation of his magic card directly behind her.

Not too bad for a first turn, right? Justin wondered.

Sigmund looked at Mort, raised his left eyebrow and thought "Well I din't check the time either. But going on the amount of pages I read in my book, my reading speed, the amount of time spent in conversation and the average time spent during a duel and my bodies adjustment to the heat, I would say... An hour and a quarter giver or take a five percent error margin. That sounds about right." he looks at the watch on his wrist "Yep that's what I'd say. Why do you ask mon amie?"

"Just curious." replied Mort to Sigmund, "I figured we must have been here for a while, so I was starting to wonder when our ride will show up."

"Now that is a question that I can't answer. I'd recommend asking Sophia." he grinned malevolently "Or you could go on a rampage and threaten to kill someone every 60 seconds until they have transport en route. Whichever floats your boat really."

"I think I'll ask her." he replied, chuckling, before standing up a little taller and turning his head around the room as he began looking for her. "Ah, there she is. I'll be back in a bit." said Mort once he spotted Sophia, before stepping away and walking over towards her.

"Excuse me," started Mort as he approached Sophia, "but do you know how much longer it will be before the ride arrives?"

Sophia spread her hands and shook her head.
"Your guess is as good as mine, deary," she said. "I've no idea what the problem with the jet is, and the heli takes a lot of time to prep, apparently. You're Morton Young, correct? You're in my dorm."

The blast caused Jacques to drop to his right knee. Ugh...! That smarts!

JACQUES LP: 4200

"Heh, not bad. Draw!!" Jacques' lips slowly curled into a smile. "I set a card face-down and end my turn. Let's see if you can keep up your offensive."

Caramon drew another card, and sighed.

"Wow. Bad draws for both of us, relatively speaking, I mean. Meklord Emperor Granel, continue to attack!"

The Meklord attacked again, in the same manner as the last two times.
