Mariya just shut up, nobody wants to listen to your nagging.
And I have to say I'm starting to like Godou less and less. I though he was cool in the beginning but now he just can't stop complaining. What a stick in the mud.
Lol Doni, now this is guy who doesn't give a shit. He would make a good main character, he and his trusty sword.
But at least the fight is interesting. Now I wonder what wildly made up version of Perseus myth they'll use to explain what's going on.
So far, they haven't been 'making up' anything. Using little-known historical research? Sure. Taking the odd liberty for the sake of drama? Sure. Making stuff up out of whole cloth? No, not really.
After praising the adaption last episode, I'm gonna have to give it some flack again this time around. The lack of internal monologues are really hurting Godou's characterization, and they're neglecting to explain why Godou wants to avoid going on this trip with Erica - namely, Erica views this as a direct prelude to marriage and tells him as much, which scares the dickens out of him.
They've been making some pretty... Outdated and controversial links between different gods and such. (the Triune-mother-godess thesis is largely discredited for instance)
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntOK, maybe I should say "liberal interpretation" instead.
About your second point, isn't Godou scared of getting closer to women because of his grandma, who really didn't want him to turn like his grandfather?

Probably still counts as a past aspect, even so.

I don't think that really applies. He lives with his grandfather, mother, and sister, with his grandfather acting as something of a Stealth Mentor. The men in his family have a centuries-long history of being The Casanova (Including his father), which the women in his family unsuccessfully try to stop.
Another thing this adaption is neglecting is that he genuinely loves Erica by this point in the story. They've been adventuring together for months, risked lives and everything else for each other*, etc. He just really wants to avoid being tied down, married, and with kids on the way before he's graduated high school, which is really the inevitable next step at this point for their relationship.

Sounds like the novels are worth reading during my longnote bus rides if my games get boring.
Incidentally, does his sister ever catch wind of his harem?
edited 25th Aug '12 8:36:58 PM by burnpsy
She already has by this point in the novels, considering that she frequently eats lunch with it at school. She's a worse nag that Mariya, which frequently results in Erica provoking her and Mariya and Godou doing the whole Synchronized Speaking thing while defending themselves, making her madder.

Oh God, I hate when they do that.
It's as if this series grabbed every cardboard old cliche in the book of anime personal relationships and ran wild with it.
"What, the protagonist actually has a mutual love interest and there's no fake doubt or drama about their relationship? Ha, fuck that."

Episode 9.
"He won't die of something minor like being killed." I can hear a meme turning in its grave.
I really don't like that stupid backtalk in the background. The moment a girl starts to cry, for any reason, everyone blames the closest guy. It's just stupid, tired, and even more stupid than a duck.
Lily's hilarous again, and that cat-smiling girl is maid of win.
Also, gotta appreciate the classics. A challenge sent with an arrow.
Check out my fanfiction!Ehhh, this episode was like 90% waste of time. And I'm starting to really hate Godou. Grow some spine, dude.
The remaining 10% were good. Especially when Doni appeared. He's funny. But he was basically used as Deus ex Machina for stopping the girls from coming.
Guys with lot of swords... Maybe Take That!?

Episode 10.
Maid of win is at it again, but since this was mainly a fight episode, not so much.
I'm not sure why, but eventhough there's the standard harem comedic jealousy, it's a little funnier here than elsewhere.
Also, the phrase, "Wait, I wasn't ready!" is actually applicable here without some form of cheating. Well, not that kind of cheating...
Check out my fanfiction!Episode 9: Liliana, you're a funny girl~
"I'll be in my bunk." Must be the translators... XD
Salvatore Doni needs his own series.
Can't wait to watch the exposition battle next episode!

The awkward duo are at it again. Well it was pretty funny.
But the pacing this episode felt bit weird.
Well I guess with this episode Liliana was officially "recruited".
I wonder what the next episode will be about.
Doni's series would mostly consist of him wandering around, kicking asses and making people uncomfortable with his own brand of friendliness.
From the episode count and the preview, I'm guessing the final girl's showing up.
Took long enough. What's the point of even including her so conspicuously in the opening and ending if she'll only be around for a few episodes?
... That was a pretty impressive makeout session.
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntIndeed.
Giant flaming boar never fails to make me grin. The action in this episode was pretty good overall, it's been improving, actually.
Episode 11.
Well, someone knows how to make an entrance.
Clingy Jealous Sister is annoying. She's just being a brat.
Erica's comment about telling girls what they want to hear also bugged me. Last time someone told me what I wanted to hear was the last time I learned not to trust someone. I like Mariya's version better. That just a friend bit isn't really so just at all.
If someone attacked a friend of mine, with the intention of elimination, that person's side would not be an ally, and thus hurt the relationship with all people on that side. In other words, I don't think Ena's doing Mariya a favour.

Check out my fanfiction!Haven't seen the episode yet, but:
One of the things about Ena is that she's somewhat of a... Ditz really isn't the right word. She's simple, maybe best described as child-like in how she approaches things, but also rather bright and crafty. In any event, she doesn't become a full-fledged member of the harem until volume 7 of the LN, where Erica starts regarding her as her biggest rival.
Now that I have seen the episode: Looks like they're trying to combine the fifth and ninth novels into two episodes somehow. Don't think that was the smartest decision in the world, but we'll see how it plays out.
Ena's great, I'd rather we get more of her instead of, say, Yuri. Erica also gets bonus points for acknowledging how dense Godou is and employing a direct assault.
So what exactly was that Authority that Godou used supposed to do besides giving Erica a power-up?
Hmm, I don't dislike Mariya, but she really is boring.
Shades? Blonde hair? Nice sword? Casual I'll-kick-ass attitude? Salvatore Doni looks like a fun character. His lines are damn awesome: "It doesn't feel impossible, so I think it'll work. Here I swear that I shall not allow anything to exist that I cannot cut."
It's time for Lily and maybe Athena to join Godou's harem~ The fight against Perseus looks like it'll be good too, as he's somehow able to seal Godou's authorities.
The next episode preview continues to be meta-tastic.
