De-power is listed as a Sub-Trope to Brought Down to Normal even though their definitions are mutually contradictory. A DePowered character has their powers removed permananently while Brought Down to Normal is supposed to be temporary. The thing is De-power is not the general "character loses their power forever" trope either, despite the generic title, because all of the De-power description is about how this is done as writer's response to an overpowered character. The thing is that that's a very specific (if valid) reason to remove a characters powers. Other reasons I can imagine would be as a form of Growing Up Sucks (character loses powers upon entering adulthood which is a common variation), the plot could center around the issue of super powers and a Muggle Power movement hoping to remove super powers as an alternative to killing the heroes.

Furthermore it sounds like Power Loss Makes You Strong also has as the specific "hero loses powers and learns a valuable lesson about not needing them to be a hero" plot with a far more specific title. De-power should be given a title that's more indicative of the reason behind the trope De Powering The Plot Killer (a working title) with the original De-power as a redirect to Brought Down to Normal. Other variations should be listed as suptropes of Brought Down to Normal supertrope.

Any variations of these tropes I'm missing? What does everypony think of these suggestions?

Well I think making Brought Down to Normal a supertrope of "character gets depowered" tropes would solve a lot of problems.

I don't think that permanent and temporary power losses should be separate tropes, either. They are different applications of the same trope.

Well the Power Loss Makes You Strong plot is a legitimate varient, but yeah generally there's no difference.
