Let me spell it out for y'all. Again.

  • This version of Robin is a dick.
    • Most versions of Robin are not dicks.
      • The contrast between this Robin's behavior and the expected behavior of Robins is funny.

This should really not be this hard to understand.

And if you think about it, it was an underdog victory. Kid Flash had just demonstrated that there was nothing Robin could do that he couldn't do better. And yet, Robin was still quick enough on the draw to kneecap him.

Funny is subjective. I don't find it particularly funny because they went too far in that particular direction for my taste.

Also, Cyborg looked great in that fedora and there really needs to be a The Great & Terrible Starfire Band album or spinoff or something.

Robin's cheapskate jokes are legitimately hilarious, because of course Dick Grayson is filthy rich and has no reason to be cheap. Granted, the "Beast Boy is broke" jokes are also funny for the same reason, but I don't think even the writers are taking that one into account.

In fact, Robin is probably the most consistently funny character in the show, because his over-the-top control-freakiness, his hypocritical aggravation with his teammates, his ultimately insecure bluster and the fact that he is both a butt of and a instigator of jokes makes him the perfect example of the cast for how to do "asshole" humor right.

The others don't always hit it so well - B.B. and Cyborg, for example, typically just do the random jerkassery without a lot of what would make it funny, except for when they're playing off of other characters.

Basically, it's a lesson to teach us that the characters are all walking tropes?

Of course, it's likely this version of Batman just wouldn't be exactly charitative to his ward in the first place. Maybe Dick still has to be a cheapskate regardless, or at least was heavily shaped into being one.

Given how many characters have used variations on "booyah" as a catchphrase over the years, I don't think Cyborg has a leg to stand on.

Glad they reference Greg's other famous role and that the DC totally did away with their motto JUST FOR THIS.

[up]People keep repeating that meme, but the only legal issue here is that the Kents didn't let the proper authorities know that they had adopted a foundling baby.

In any case, you're taking that joke about the boy scout-ified (seriously, read some pre-WW 2 Superman comics) Superman's slogan way too seriously. Really, people take a lot of the jokes in this show way too seriously.

It's just always unbelievable how much the series manages to desmurch about it's old ways that it ends up being funny!

For all the stupidity the show and the characters can get into, some of the tunes are damn catchy. Especially the Pee-Pee Dance.

I just watched a few episodes of this and I was a fan of the old show. For anyone expecting me to be offended, I'm not. This show's pretty goofy compared to the original, but it's pretty fun, just in a different way.

Well, that also was my reaction back when I only had watched 'a few episodes'. The show's main problem is it gets just grating after a while, when the humor style wears down.

Your stating your opinion is justified, and Boner is justified in his opinion that your opinion is extreme. Fair's fair, let's leave it at that before it gets heated again.

However, depending on what you meant by it, your response to Groovy might not have been as justified.
