Picked up lots of trades today. Vision volume two was of course harrowing. I was expecting the treatment of Victor to piss me off, but actually it felt fitting to me.
I also picked up the civil war volumes of Ultimates and Ms Marvel.
Ultimate continues to be incredibly engaging, with a strong premise and manages to just about not collapse under the massive scope of plot threads inside of it. Weird that Carol and Rhodey's relationship isn't even mentioned in this. It feels strange having the major fall out take place outside of the book. But it's kind of comforting to have Panther's threat against the Ultimates being fallowed up in the most painless way possible. (An official denouncing off acreen) the final chapter weirdly has Carol in way higher spirits than I was expecting. Clearly having the ultimate disbanded was actually a weight off her mind. I looking forward to see where this goes next.
Ms Marvel made me cry. The sheer acceptance her family has of her pulls the heart strings. The events of the comic don't seem to give a good argument why precognitive-justice doesn't work, but rather why Ms and Captain Marvel aren't qualified to attempt it.
The Ms. Marvel Civil War II tie-in had the biggest gut punch of the entire event, at least in my opinion. It was rough to read.
That Basic Becky was a real C-word I tell you what.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."So Black Panther & the Crew, by Coates and Guice. Hmmm.
Dammit, that's more money I'll be spending every month. Marvel wants all my money.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.I'm not sure what to replace Vision with in my pull. I hear Champions isn't worth my time. Perhaps I'll pick up the Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Trade. I don't know, I think I want something more experimental.
Moon Girl's great. Very different from Vision, of course. Vision hated the very concept of joy and strove to ensure readers could never feel it again. Moon Girl has a flame-throwing mechanical triceratops made of Lego. So, you know . . . kind of a different vibe. But yeah, Moon Girl's great. Lots of fun, lots of heart. Very cute and clever but it can also drop some heavy feels at times.
Other options: If you haven't read New Avengers, it was one of the most gleefully over-the-top comics out there, full of the most ridiculous ideas. And while New Avengers is over, it's continuing with US Avengers.
I'd also like to suggest Silk. The best of the Spider-titles, hands down. It can be hilarious. But it's also a great exploration of trauma, PTSD and anxiety, and is incredibly rare in being a superhero comic where the protagonist is actually in therapy for her mental health issues. I think that's really valuable, and it also provides for a deeper exploration of Silk as a person.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics. It is so sad comparing how Silk was written before in Spider-Verse and in her own solo. It's night and day how much her solo is so much better.
I would say all the Spider-Women titles are worth reading, and Miles's book.
Eh I wouldn't recommend Miles book myself.
Its not as good as it once was & the current arc does not reinvigorate me in any way.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I'll admit the Civil War II stuff slowed it down but before and it looks like after, it's back on track. The supporting cast is the best part of the book by far.
Yeah although not everyone will support the possible Gwen/Miles paring.
Mileena MadnessMoon girl is tempting. But what I liked about Vision, and Before it Loki Agent of Asgard was that it was a marvel book not focusing on a character's super hero career. The other books on my pull list (Ms Marvel and Squirrel Girl) are pretty standard super heroics soap opera in their focus. I'm also reading the Ultimate which manages to spice things up with a massive focus on world building.
Also, how long until we get Civil War III?

Until Marvel wants to make another quick buck. So next year.
So does this count as The Crew being Saved From Developmentl Hell in a sense? A little disappointed at the lack of Josiah X or even Kasper and that all the characters are already A- or B-listers but cool to see that the roster includes women now.

It would probably be black panther vs Carol.
I don't know who will fight in Civil War 3. All I know that in Civil War 4 it will be between Namor and Howard the Duck over going shirtless v. Pantsless.
Strictly speaking, Saved from Development Hell is for projects that were delayed for a long time but eventually came out. The last Crew series came out, it just unfortunately got cancelled after the first arc.
Why does Daredevil pretend to be conventionally blind to everyone?
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position. You've reminded me of a recent issue of Power Man and Iron Fist where Daredevil was shown using his phone like all of the other heroes that Luke and Danny had assembled, like, "Yeah, okay, I can't actually read any of this info that the guys just sent me, but it'll be weird or something if I'm the only one here who hasn't whipped out their phone or tablet to skim it..."
Jackson Guice will be the artist on The Crew. Interestingly, Coates says he originally wanted to use the cast from Priest's run, but for one reason or another they weren't available.
Obviously War Machine was slated to be killed off and White Tiger is redundant, but I wonder if Josiah X was off-limits because of that alleged rights dispute over Isaiah Bradley.
SO, ARE CLOAK AND DAGGER MUTANTS OR WHAT? http://www.cbr.com/cloak-dagger-mutants-x-men/
The royalties issue has been known for a while. That's nothing new. Len Wein famously said he made way more money from Morgan Freeman playing Lucius Fox, a supporting character, in the Batman trilogy than he ever did for the 8 billion movies and TV shows starring Wolverine.

He goes into the concept's genesis here.
