Maybe the woman in question was just really lacking in self-confidence?
What's precedent ever done for us?They're all nuts and bolt at the faintest sign of a spider?
Check out my fanfiction!Hey, I happen to know women who are not afraid of spiders, thank you very much.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. That's a rather awkward song. Not the content, but the composition.
Check out my fanfiction!I think that was deliberate, seeing as it's College Humor.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. That's like saying you can't compose a politically correct song without having it sound bad.
Check out my fanfiction!I love it! And of course, because it's College Humor they want you to smile about it, but I think it's awesome.
There are a few things about it I think are really important too:
1) The black girl is freaking gorgous and she has natural hair in an afro-type style. That is awesome. Black women are pressured far too much to spend insane amounts of money and time making their hair look like a white girls. No. They're beautiful the way they are. No need to mess with it.
2) Black guys often get a bad rap for being thugs and mistreating women, especially in the Urban music genre like R&B and Hip Hop. So yeah, this has more weight because of what genre they are parodying. Yes, a black man can be intelligent and men in general can be allies to feminism in both acts and intellect.
I think it's great. I could only watch the video, I couldn't listen to the audio, but I think it was a good blend of getting across the point while still being funny.

My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username. That is one sexist leaflet. Though I can't spot the homophobia in the bits shown, anyone care to quote them for me? (not that it matters, the leaflet is damning enough just with the sexist that I can spot)

“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranDat leaflet. Wooooow. Just. Wow. No wonder they got explicitly banned. Holy dingleberries.
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothesThe homophobia is more evident in other parts, which the Daily Mail has pictures of.
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username. Thanks, I didn't click the initial Daily Mail link due to having an inherent aversion to going to the Daily Mail website.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranHere's an interesting article about the upcoming war between social justice and social media. I like the way they frame this: "The Great Free Speech Experiment". This is something we've seen a lot of in the past few weeks and months.
So I started discussing the contents of the article on the wrong thread.
I know I'm repeating myself, but I'm appalled.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Ah, appeal to enlightened self-interest. Brilliant move.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Does anyone else get frustrated of hearing the argument "oh, well I don't hate all women, so I can't be misogynist."
Aye, or the variation "I'm a woman, so I can't be a misogynist."
Or "I don't hate women/men, but..."
It's okay to be frustrated with certain arguments, as long as you don't automatically dismiss anyone for saying it. Most people aren't exactly spectactular at phrasing their arguments (especially on the intrawebs), and there are many feets in mouths. If there are any arguments worth dismissing automatically, it's those who automatically dismiss others.

Check out my fanfiction!I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that "I don't hate all Group X so I can't be Bigot Y" is wrong 100% of the time and that lack of eloquence in speech is irrelevant.
People don't seem to understand that bigotry is most often expressed as a desire to punish those who deviate from what's expected of that group.
As to why bisexual women have higher numbers I can only infer from my own experience so take this as YMMV:
Bisexual doesn't mean promiscuous or nymphomaniac, but there are some segments of society that still perceive bisexual means not only that you'll have sex with anything, but you want to. Women are statistically targeted more than men in general, so that makes sense for me bisexuals, but especially women, may have more threats. There are predators in all demographics. Being bisexual increases your odds of attracting predators just by affiliation.
Bisexuals often can still not be accepted by homosexuals just like heterosexuals. Often I have been told I just haven't met the right man/woman, I'm being selfish/unnatural, or that I'm immature or faking it. I have had both men and women "offer" to "screw me straight". Depending on your community, you may not have a healthy support group to build safe relationships with.
Being bisexual and lacking support systems to have a healthy self esteem and self image can lead to mental illness or emotional instability which further increases your vulnerability. I know this first hand: if you're not in a healthy state of mind for whatever reason, you're not going to always be able to make healthy choices or recognize abusive or damaging behavior until it does get extreme.
That's just what I thought of on the fly.
