I fail to see how a screenshot from the Colbert report illustrates anyone needing a freakin' drink. It should be easy to find a replacement from a random TV series or webcomic, though.

Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!

This particular episode of The Word is the Trope Namer for I Need a Freaking Drink. In it the Democrats had just gotten into power and as the link to this episode demonstrate Stephan is trying to cope with the news, including whacking a pinata to no avail, before we get the scene on the trope page.

We can clearly see in the image that he is distressed, which if we were to look we could find a similar image however by having the note on the side, by having I Need a Freaking Drink we can see that they...well, need a freaking drink as opposed to being frustrated over having to work late or something and not necessarily needing a drink.

I always thought the screenshot from the very first episode of MLP:FiM perfectly demonstrated the trope, with a beleaguered unicorn pouring herself a drink while the annoying pink pony continued to talk her ears off. (Yeah, later it turns out to be hot sauce, but the implication of the scene before the reveal is still the same.)

[up][up] I agree that this picture illustrates the situation that led Stephen to need a freaking drink, and given that the situation "I'm so stressed out the only thing that could fix it is a stiff alcoholic beverage" is the trope, rather than actually drinking, I'm inclined to say leave it alone. However, if so you please, we can include as a sort of "second frame" another screenshot or two from the same "Word" segment: Stephen says absolutely nothing the whole time, letting facial expressions and the commentary speak for him. In effect, you create a webcomic from screenies. It's perfect.

If we were to take such a course of action, I would suggest at least adding a screenshot of "Sweet brown medicine..." which is him actually drinking, and possibly him recovering his composure afterward (realizing that the Democrats can't do jack). The trope in a nutshell.

I think the depressed defeated posture speaks for its self.

Let's see some replacement suggestions. And I can't really imagine anything that would work, so...

Oh, go with the frakking Trope Namer. Even without said namer visible in the shot, you can't tell me that Colbert's slump isn't the one shared by so many who need their freaking drink. Agreeing with the above, it's not the drinking itself that matters—it's the mindset. So unless someone proposes an image that illustrates just why said freaking drink is needed... keep Steve.

It's been a month and a half and the consensus in the thread is to keep the current pic, so I'm gonna go ahead and close this up and tag the page as such.
