While I agree it's probably been balanced away from true sorting (I am not a Gryffindor, I'm a Ravenclaw!), shouldn't the law of averages suggest that if you sort a group that large, it should be roughly equal?
Fresh-eyed movie blogI got Ravenclaw.
NO TREE FOR ME (ALSO LOVES HER BOYFRIEND)I agree in that once you have a big enough group, the law of averages would come into effect. Besides, it's necessary to keep the houses equal. But I still can't overlook the fact that the test results are rigged.

I think because it's the internet, and a bookish fandom with a lot of heart, there would be a non-negligible slant toward Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, but it'd be in the realm of a few percentage points.

Fresh-eyed movie blogHey, I am a ravenclaw at heart.
That has a point. The internet certainly does attract the lonely, shy geeks, so there would be a slight slant towards Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. "The internet is for lonely people," so to quote Charles Heston.
But you're right; the slant towards those two houses would be quite a small one.
However, I would imagine that Slytherins would be fairly small in proportion to the rest of the houses. Ambition and cunning are not traits found in the majority of people.
Greetings comrade!

I'm a Slytherin.
And it suits me perfectly
ಠ_ಠI shy away from registering with Pottermore just to get Sorted again. Until someone sets up a Sorting Hat quiz tailored to the Methodsverse, I am done with the whole edifice. Besides, I think I leave enough traces on the Net as it is...
I am a Slytherin now. And I do not care what anyone else thinks about that.
I got Ravenclaw, but I wanted Ravenclaw :3
Read my stories!I got into Slytherin too. I'd expected either Ravenclaw or Slytherin, since that's what I get on the majority of Sorting tests (and I only take the ones where it's not blatantly obvious which answer leads to which result) so I'm not entirely shocked.
Stupid doomed timeline...Interesting how Ravenclaw seems to be the least populous of all four.
Read my stories! The mechanics of the skew may be explicitly balanced against Ravenclaw, since it seems like it'd be the most populous.
Fresh-eyed movie blogThat's odd, since my sister was so sure she'd get Hufflepuff, but got Ravenclaw. Guess we're just naturally skewed towards it.
Read my stories!I got into Slytherine which is where most quizzes stick me. It fits.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahDid anyone else get a choice? I know it is possible if the Sorting Hat can't decide as just one. I was given the option to choose between Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. I ended up choosing Ravenclaw though as while I do fit both I think I fit Ravenclaw slightly more.
I didn't. Although I did choose answers I felt were a mix between Ravenclaw and me.
Read my stories!I got sorted into Slythrin, but that's also what I was hoping for.
"I don't know how I do it. I'm like the Mr. Bean of sex." -DrunkscriblerianI just wish there was more stuff to do. I can only duel and brew for so long.
Read my stories!Yeah, I went through the list of activities pretty quickly before getting bored.
"I don't know how I do it. I'm like the Mr. Bean of sex." -DrunkscriblerianI didn't get a choice about which house I was put in, but I'm not complaining! Slytherin's awesome.
And I'm not going to create another account and go through all the activities all over again just to see what other house I might be sorted into.

I'm in Slytherin, which shocks many of my RL friends. It suits me perfectly, as I've always liked being the "evil" side.
They're not evil! Just misunderstood.
"I don't know how I do it. I'm like the Mr. Bean of sex." -DrunkscriblerianYeah, Slytherins are not evil!
Although, I do have to say that despite the lack of things to do, the extra harry potter information was fascinating. I really liked reading Minerva's background.
Read my stories! And we're all one large dysfunctional and non biological family!
What house were you sorted into, and do you think it's the appropriate house for you?
The test results are definitely rigged, that's for sure. No way would there be as many Slytherins as there are Hufflepuffs (not that all Slytherins are evil). The test results are just too balanced.
The test put me in Slytherin, and I think it's the right house for me (ambition and cunning). But when I was 11, I would have been put in Hufflepuff instead. Which also begs the question of whether 11 year olds are too young to be sorted?
