That's a tad depressing to know that the creators outright said all of that.
And I will say that I agree on having a genuinely good time with a friend doesn't equal romantic feelings. That said, there is a certain chemistry which is different from pure friendship got from scene personally. I recognize feeling from all the time spent with my own girlfriend. It was strong enough that it combined with previous moments during build up made me believe they'd make a great couple & actually make each other happy.
I still just can't see that with Korra and Mako. Once that initial sensation which comes from new relationships wears off, I can't see them being able to carry things on beyond that in a healthy relationship.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.Korra and Mako have no chemistry. Plain and simple. We still haven't seen them click yet. hell, she clicked with Asami and Tahno better than Mako.

I agree. That's my main problem with Makkora. That, and it sends a bad message that it's okay to screw over your brother and girlfriend for a girl you barely talked to in the past.
Again, I'd have no problems if there was more chemistry between them, and Mako wasn't (formally) with Asami.
That too with the Unfortunate Implications. Only reason I hadn't mentioned that was cause it has all been covered up to this point and everybody who doesn't feel they are there can't be convinced otherwise for whatever reasons they have.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.Hee!
Bolin's VA said he'll be getting a love interest!
I don't think he was allowed to say that. XD
Plants are aliens, and fungi are nanomachines.Well if they do have him move on to Korra with regards to love interests, I hope she's well written.
And before usual type of crowd appears, it's going to be a she.

Improving as an author, one video at a time.I just want Bolin (and Asami, too!) to be happy! So so relieved that these two became fandom's darlings.
Plants are aliens, and fungi are nanomachines.I was amused at the way his minder immediately went and shut down the discussion as soon as he started talking about the ~new love interest~. Quick, someone try and get him to talk when she isn't around!
But yeah, I kind of expected that to happen. Makorra is the Official Couple (at the moment, anyway), so if they want any romance for the rest of Team Avatar, it's either Bolin/Asami or getting them seperate love interests. And while there are a few established male characters in about the right age group for Asami, Bolin doesn't have much else there.
Hopefully she won't get a bad reaction from fandom.
The owner of this account is temporarily unavailable. Please leave your number and call again later.I'm glad PJ slipped up about Bolin's Book 2 LUV interest, cause he was going on and on about how heartbroken Bolin is, and we all know how over-protective the fandom is of Bolin. (RAWR!!!)
And... oh God, fandom will have such high expectations of Bolin's love interest. Will be like an overprotective parent.
Plants are aliens, and fungi are nanomachines.I'm more interested that Bolin has "major, major stuff" coming up.
Agreed, I'm curious about all these plans for Bolin which are popping up. What with him maturing in it all, getting a love interest, etc.
To note, I don't give a damn about whole "fandom darling" type things. I just don't like the way Asami & Bolin were treated. I still want Korra to turn out better as well alongside Mako to face consequences for his actions, stop dodging problems, and grow into a more likable person.

Improving as an author, one video at a time.Just spotted someone on Tumblr hoping Bolin's love interest is a guy.
0.01% chance of that happening.
Also, if you want a easy way of tracking SDCC updates - ONTD-LOK has a thread wherein people will be posting stuff.
Plants are aliens, and fungi are nanomachines.-sigh- When will the day come when it isn't a definite given that the lead characters' love interests will be their opposite sex?
‽‽‽‽ ^These are interrobangs. Love them. Learn them. Use them.It hugely depends on the type of show.
Nickelodeon (American) Cartoon, which airs on Saturday Mornings = Nope

Uhhh... at Mako's VA.
Great. Now, I think that the folks who insisted that Mako wanted to kiss Korra in episode 11 (while they were sitting with Naga) were right.
Plants are aliens, and fungi are nanomachines.Uh, was there any doubt about that?
In the future and progressively in appropriate mediums. It'll require people becoming more open minded and such, but when the subject matter is a children's show on Nickelodean in 2012, it's a pointless concern.
And this is coming from a Yuri Fanboy.

Improving as an author, one video at a time. It's like I fail (miserably) every time I attempt to think of Mako as less of jerk.
I hope that was just Mako's VA and not something that was actually in the script. (Probably wrong about this too.)
Plants are aliens, and fungi are nanomachines.I am not hugely invested in any ship; but I fail to see why Mako is supposed to be a jerk. Yeah, his brother was also interested in Korra; but it's not like they were together, and Korra was obviously interested in him and not in Bolin (I like Bolin, and I look forward to seeing more of him in the next section; but it was clear that Korra was not romantically interested in him. It happens.)
Him leaving Asami to go with Korra was... less than elegant, I will give you that. Especially given the circumstances. But still, it was long-established that he had some feelings for both of them. In such a situation, once he made his mind, much better to do what he did than drag things along and deceive Asami about his feelings.
As for Bolin, as I said, I like him; but I hope he does not get a love interest in the next season. It would feel a bit like Pairing the Spares...

But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas.Didn't you see the finale? He kept leading Asami on even as he was hooking up with Korra.
‽‽‽‽ ^These are interrobangs. Love them. Learn them. Use them. And apparently... he was (really) leaning in to kiss Korra in the hobo camp.
/shakes head at Mako
Plants are aliens, and fungi are nanomachines. That's not how I understood it. Maybe I missed something; but it seemed to me that he did not purposefully do so — he decided that he was in love with Korra, kissed her, and broke up with Asami. Not elegant, as I said. But it had been long established that he had feelings for both of them.
But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas. Here's how you do it properly.
Break up first.
Then smooch the other girl.
If Mako really 100% tried to kiss Korra in the hobo camp, I cannot help but assume that he has no-little respect for Asami at all.
In which case, I am pretty much justified in having no-little respect for Mako as well.
Plants are aliens, and fungi are nanomachines.Yeah, I did say that that was not well-done. Still, the love triangle was well-established by that point; and the characters are romantically clueless teenagers.
Now, if he does not come clear with Asami, I might say that he is a jerk; but if he got himself carried over, kissed Korra, and then broke up with Asami... well, I won't say that it was a good action, but that's something that a teenager who has feelings for two girls might conceivably do.

You saw the commentaries?
Bryan (or Mike) said that Korra had no intention of leading Bolin on, meaning she did not want to go on a date with him cause that wouldn't be fair to Bolin.
But he made her "feel good (genuinely)" AND that is why she agreed to the date! Remember her blushing at Bolin's compliments?
There was something there, a spark! I'd say more than a spark. Like half the fandom felt IT during their date.
Someone at ontd-lok described it so well. Bolin was the one who got away!
F- fantastic (/sarcasm). I feel so bad for Korra right now. Wait - hang on, I'm sure she'll be happy with Mako. Peace.
It's just that, imho, Borra would have worked out wonderfully.
