So, this is a thread for newbies to the Game Of Thrones universe to discuss the show without running the risk of being spoiled.
And that's any kind of spoiler, btw, even the "wait and see" kind of spoiler. Everyone should post here if they want to, just be mindful of what you're saying people.
So. Queef of Darkness, amiright? Holy shit the ending to that episode was amazing.

No- Ice was the sword used, and Widow's Wail is one of two swords made from it.
The sword was not returned to the North (I think in the books, Robb demanded it back- not sure if that came up in the show- but the Lannisters did grant the demand).
On another note- it is funny that now the audience expects people to die any time there is a wedding and it will actually be a surprise when/if there is a wedding and no one dies.
Edit, edit, edit, edit the wikiOh yes, that's right, Robb demanded Ned's body and effects be transported to the North to be buried under his gods.
I think that may have been granted.
Yes, the body, but obviously not the sword, since as indicated, it was used to make Widow's Wail and another (so far unnamed) sword.
Edit, edit, edit, edit the wikiI swear Tywin only got the sword after he had Roose do the thing. Why else would he have waited until then to melt it down?
He needed to find a smith who could work Valyrian steel.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again. And possibly he didn't want to have it made until he knew the Starks were totally defeated. If he had the sword made while Robb was still alive and kicking, he'd just be viewed as a thief.
Edit, edit, edit, edit the wikiAlso, wasn't Widow's Wail decided by popular vote? I remember Joffrey asking his subjects the name of the sword and they all shout a bunch of names like Stormbringer and some other such, but he settles on Widow's Wail.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Some guy shouted Terminus and that got an actual haha from me.
It was so random and so obviously a reference to something

"You can't change the world without getting your hands dirty."Terminus Est- the Cool Sword of Severian in Book of the New Sun.
Edit, edit, edit, edit the wikiThe one who voted Widow's Wail was the man who poisoned King Joffery "Poophead" Baratheon- Lannister
That being Dontos Hollard, the true Magnificent Bastard of Westeros and Lord of House Dollard, whose motto is "We Make fools out of foes".
And he has a Valyrian-steel sword called "Fool's Pride"
Dontos is also a lost son of Rhaegar Targeryen and the actual "Last Dragon".
I'm having way too much goddamn fun with this.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."He's also the Lord of Light
Mel saw Dontos in her fires not Stannis.
Daenerys will marry Dontos.
"You can't change the world without getting your hands dirty."At first I wasn't really in agreement with the Hound's comment on people who name their swords, but now I find myself unable to argue otherwise.
Dontos has the secret to tame the dragons
Dontos is Varys' super spy, and the only reason the latter is the "Master of Whisper"
Also, completely unrelated, but I forgot to mention that when Thorund's Free Folks made contact with their back up, I honestly thought that the scar-heads dude would stick a baby on the roast spit. I was relieved when it was only an arm.
"I swear Tywin only got the sword after he had Roose do the thing. Why else would he have waited until then to melt it down?"
Not that it's absolute proof but looking at the execution of Karstark again Robb is definitely not rocking Ice. I think he waited because Tywin is a fairly poetic soul. As far as he knows at this point the Stark line is finished. Melting down their swords to make new ones is the final insult; to completely destroy the once great house in the north.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?Dontos will escape Winter by creating a jet and flying everyone to Essos
I hope Rickon becomes Lord of Winterfell, reclaims his father's swords and finishes off the Boltons, the Freys and Lannisters with Shaggydog.

"You can't change the world without getting your hands dirty."And then kills a Fully-Grown Dragon.
With just Shaggydog.
Shaggydog likes dragonmeat.
And so does Rickon.
OM NOM NOM
"You can't change the world without getting your hands dirty."The raven Bran keeps seeing is actually Dontos' spiritual form, guiding him through life.
Speaking of which, Bran should totally make a wheelchair with built-in crossbolts.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Because of the rough terrain wheels wouldn't be helpful, he'd need tank treads. Thankfully Sir Dontos can send him telepathic schematics to make them.
he then tells bran how to make wildfire sprayers and the secret stash of obsidian weapons, stopping the white walkers in their tracks
I finally caught up with the TV series, so does that mean it's fine to talk about last nights episode?
hashtagsarestupid... Last week's you mean? Because the newest episode comes on in 15 minutes....
And you can talk about last week's episode with spoilertext. You can't "officially"* stop using spoilertext for last weeks episode until after today's airs...

I'm enjoying the theory that Ice being used to cut off it's own master's head caused it to be cursed.
Save for the fact that would imply Jamie is currently cursed, and I don't approve of that. But the oddly similar deaths of it's following wielders, Robb and Joffery.
Wat, Ice didn't get used to cut of Ned's head did it? How did it get back North to Robb?
