Man, I keep hearing about Steve Taylor but never actually listened to him. I oughta rectify that.
Oog... I am, in fact, a fan of Steve Taylor, but I haven't had any time to do proper troping lately >.<
And yes, Meta, you should remedy that. The man is deliciously sardonic. And utterly sincere, at the same time. It's a slightly brain-bending combination >.O
Steve Taylor recorded music from 1983 (I Want to be a Clone EP) to 1995 (Liver live album), with only one single since then ("Shortstop" on the 1999 Roaring Lambs tribute album). That's a fairly long period of time, but there were only four full length solo albums in that time. So yeah, I'd consider both Steve Taylor's music career and his brief-lived band Chagall Guevara to be Too Good to Last.
I tried to find other examples of Christian musicians and bands here on TVTropes who often use humor and satire. Daniel Amos is a good start, as is Relient K... Unfortunately, even after searching this site, I only found a few mentions of Larry Norman, Mark Heard, and T-Bone Burnett. Had trouble finding relevant results for Victoria Williams or Sam Phillips (formerly Leslie Phillips), and not one mention of Randy Stonehill.
In the last decade, Steve has directed two movies: The Second Chance and Blue Like Jazz.

EDIT: Brain fart. FIF also did "The Old West" and "Beautiful America". And that wonderfully backhanded explanation of the story behind "Get Your Riot Gear". Definitely satire. There's probably more I'm forgetting.

One Bad Pig is another band that uses humor and satire. The semi-spinoff lust control (featuring members of OBP and fronted by Doug Van Pelt) also have their humorous moments.
One Bad Pig had its humorous moments. Lust Control was nothing but humorous moments, their whole existence was basially "parody with a purpose"
Also surprised Apologetix hasn't been mentioned yet.

Watch out where you step, or we'll be afoot.Long ago a message board I was on used to have mix cd exchanges, and it became a tradition for people to include either a novelty song or something So Bad, It's Good as a "Hidden Track" - I know Lust Control's "The Big M" because of this, and it was kind of interesting to later look them up and find out that song was supposed to be humorous.
Bumping this up as i just remembered another band, Theocracy. While the lyrics to their studio albums are dead serious, they've also releases lots of humorous Christmas singles, such as this one:

I was planning to start a page for the Christian musician Steve Taylor and I was wondering whether anyone would volunteer to join me on this. Yes, I know I can just go ahead and start the page, but I thought I would ask for some help first. Trying to do him justice seems a big task on my own.
