Just watched that video where he defended the Polish fascist. Wow. I didn't think he would stoop that low. I see it as even worse than the N-word incident.

Fascist doesn't mean "bigot".

I was just quoting the article. After 10 seconds of research, ironically, he seems to have a history of accusing others of being fascists. He's a shit human being in general though.

They don't mean the same thing but I've yet to encounter a fascist that wasn't bigoted.

His apology seems sincere at least

It's not really a sincere apology.

1) The classic "Sorry that you were offended" not "Sorry that I said something offensive." It's a classic, fairweather of indirectly no apologizing by placing all blame on the offended party.

2) He doesn't address the issue or even say why it was bad.

3) It took 2 days to "apologize" and even with the video apology, he still monetized the apology video. And why so many cuts for an apology video?

4) He used the excuse of "heated moment." Which is BS because ignoring the fact that no one just up and spouts random racial epithets when upset, that's no excuse when you blow up at your parents, spouses, friends, whatever

5) He blamed the gaming culture. Which yes the gaming culture does have problems with racism, but the fact is, he's a grown man who should have known that it was wrong and take responsibility for his own actions. The fact that he has pull in the gaming community and yet does nothing to combat its bigotry is also telling

6) Most importantly, this isn't the first time he did an "apology." This is his fifth (as far as I know) time apologizing for being a bigot. (rape jokes, KKK, gay jokes, death to Jews and now this) Like, at this point, realize that he's not sincere and he's never gonna change.

He's literally making a career off of insincere apologies. What the fuck.

Even if it was more "sincere," and let's roll with thatfor a bit, it's kinda rendered moot with the previous events in mind. The whole is to like admit you screwed up, focus on your mistakes and yours alone, and never do it again. Once it happens again, nobody's gonna take you seriously.

That is correct, but said people have kinda decreased with this case. The "Felix should take his poster boy state more seriously" has grown in comparison. As he said himself, he can't afford another fuckup.

But I don't expect it to happen here, blame iDubbbz I guess.

I think there was also a segment who apparently found small legit issues with the way the WSJ framed it (him actually wanting to kill all Jews over being an asshole who thinks that jokes about kills Jews are in any way funny or okay) and focused on that instead of PD Ps behaviour, because some people have a hyper focus on old media doing things even slightly wrong.

With this one it clearly wasn't even a bad (and inherently bigoted) attempt at comedy, it was just his natural reaction to stress.

And yeah I don't buy the apology for a second, because by the sound of it (I'm not gonna give him money by watching the video) it's not an apology, it's an attempt to justify and rug sweep.

If if the wording of the apologize was good (and reading the transcript I honestly don't feel it is all that bad), it is still a multiple repeating offense. At this point I can't give him the benefit of the doubt anymore.

It's time number five or six, ain't it? It ain't sincere.

That... really isn't even remotely true. People don't typically do it on camera because, case in point, it's career suicide.

I'm not going to fault him for that one.

It's the "up and spouts."

Yes, people do spout racial epithets when they're upset. But they don't do that if they don't use them when they're not upset. You don't tap into an entirely new vernacular when you're upset, you tap into words that you already use.

Does it really make this any more or less severe if it's part of his vernacular or not? Can we prove that a grand majority of the people responding to this don't have a similar vernacular, or that most responsible adults on the internet don't? It sounds like something of a double standard.

If you looked at it that way then are people automatically awful because they have that vernacular?

If they use racial slurs a lot in their vernacular to the point where one "accidentally" slips out than yes, I'll come down on him hard for it. Is this even up for debate? He said something racist, his apology is insincere since this is the fifth or sixth time he's done something stupid like this, and it kinda says a lot about him that it could "slip" so casually out of his mouth.

And now we watch as PewDiePie start practising some new things to say like "cheese-cunt-cake cream filled dickwater-hole."

Actually this is more of Jim Sterling thing to say.

I think he gets his swear sense from there, like his name.

I don't care enough about him either way to be angry at his succession of screwups. But if I were him, I would step away from live events/streams and hire an editor/censor with a strong sense for PC.

Dude you can't just drop a link in here and not put a description on it, that's against forum rules. What's this video about and why is it bad?

Most people who don't know what the game is probably aren't going to care so I didn't feel the need to describe it, plus it's content from the person this thread is about, so I didn't really feel the need to justify it's placement. I only put in a folder because the video thumbnails on this site are huge. But, I admit I tossed that in pretty suddenly.

It's a game I like and a flawed game certainly with some cringy dialogue, and Pewdiepie did a video on it with a title that plays upon the game's flaws in a way I find most unappealing. Video came out on Sept 3 - 3 million views. This is how a grand majority of people searching Youtube for this game will be introduced to it.

He was already dead to me but now his corpse is just attracting flies.

As Adric said, dropping a video link without context is against forum rules. Not everyone wants to or can click a link, so providing context helps those people join in the discussion.

If he has a different opinion on a game then you, you should just accept his opinion as his own and let it go.
