I don't believe he was referring to Darkenning in particular there NDC. It was a hypothetical. X person may be Y but that does not automatically make their work Z automatically cut worthy.

Argh. I should have said "No matter what the author's actual inclinations are, we should judge based on what they wrote"
That's what I meant, but probably not what I said. BTW I'm a woman.

@Mazz: Having seen how some of the boys at my high school are, I'm inclined to think the opposite. They generally prefer their fellow students to older women, primarily because they can actually be in a relationship with them instead of wishful thinking of being with the older women.

Japan seems to prefer them younger in general. Older women tend to have the Christmas Cake stigma attached to them. Another cultural difference.
Japan fetishizes cuteness and subservience, I believe. It's part of the reason why they sexualize such young girls and passive women so much. The culture itself largely disapproves of the former but, well, that only goes so far when it comes to escapism.
Still, doesn't really matter at this point.

I know many of my classmates watched Sailor Moon for the "hot girls in sailor clothes". However, at age fourteen, they aren't going to admit they watch girls' shows. I don't think the whole "they prefer older women" applies so much, at least not when it comes to shows.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerDone with last ep. of Mitsudomoe *
Verdict: Borderline
Recommended course of action: Keep, but clean
Pro:
- Shonen
- Series is not always sexual humor
- Usually fairly clean (with regards to sexual content, Toilet Humor is another matter)
Con:
- Lots of age-inappropriate sexual humor
- Still some underage fanservice
- Nonexistent plot
While I don't think this is cutworthy, the zero-pedo-tolerance policy makes it difficult to argue taking no action. If it stays clean, it can stay, but zap any pro-pedo entries on the page on sight.

"Polite life will fill you full of cancer." - Iggy Pop "I've seen the future, brother, it is murder." -Leonard CohenMost likely.
And hilariously enough, I said once before that under TV Tropes' current rules, Decadent Habits should be cut. I consider it a waste, but my personal opinion doesn't matter here.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariWait, lack of plot is a factor on if a series stays or not? Lack of plot has nothing to do with inadequacy of a work for a younger public.
The general rule of thumb is if the intended primary purpose is to titillate, not protect the poor innocent eyes of children. If a story cannot work without its explicit content, it better have a good reason why not.
It doesn't matter how appropriate for a younger public it is (for cutting, at least), but only the plot-to-porn ratio and the presence of paedopandering.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanElse Lucky Star and any number of gag series would be in trouble.

The plot to porn ratio helps us determine what is just mature subject matter and what's porn. Like our favorite ASOIAF is filled with grisly sex scenes, but because that's maybe 30 pages in a 500 page book, we can safely say it's fine for the wiki. If it was 400 pages of sex scenes and 100 pages of plot, we'd have eyebrows being raised.
Sorry! I'm not good at explaining! They'll know it when they see it!

... Sometimes I get the feeling we're playing Calvinball here, no offense.
Since I seem to remember a very big deal was made about this being in a very large part to keep the site accesible to all group ages when this all started.

As I have said elsewhere, I'm just posting what P5 might find relevant.
"Polite life will fill you full of cancer." - Iggy Pop "I've seen the future, brother, it is murder." -Leonard CohenNo, only 13+. Remember that younger people shouldn't be on the 'Net.
Also, the work's suitability is rather disconnected from our page's suitability for <people>.
Not a big difference.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanNDC: Well, we're going for porn, but we're not simply hitting anything with explicit sex in it. If we were, Sengoku Rance and Shuffle would not have passed. As a basic guideline, think of how much you talk about a work without mentioning the sex. The more you have to say about it, the less likely it is to be cut. There are exception in either direction with pedo stuff getting essentially no tolerance and stuff that's condemning sexual abuse getting a pass, but that's the gist of it.
The basic idea behind this is that we don't want to promote pedophilia nor do we wish to index pornography. What constitutes pornography is incredibly subjective, hence this forum.

13 is a teenager, not a child.
Ah, I see.
Depending on the culture. Around here, for instance, you might call a 13 years old a child, although not really at 14.
edited 13th May '12 11:32:26 AM by NapoleonDeCheese
Me too. When I talk about a group of 13 year olds, I say 'the children' Like 'the children better stop cutting through my garden'
Me too, though I generally prefer the term "teenage kids."
Despite what anyone's views on this may be, it's still not exactly a classy move to refer to someone else as a horrible pervert when that person can't even log in anymore to defend himself.
Cutting material is one thing, throwing personal insults despite what we may think about others is a whole another matter. Especially when no one here knows a single thing about what the others do or don't in their personal lives when they aren't sitting at a computer keyboard.
