If on review a work does not have what Eddie has clearly stated can't be here it can go back. Pretty simple. If it has any of the stuff Eddie wants gone it stays gone or becomes gone.

@Booky

At the end of the day it's his site, there is nothing we can do.

I can certainly see a lot of special pleading needing to be done, we've already had some back pedalling on it to make sure we weren't excluding Romeo And Juliet and South Park (wow, never though I'd see those two works in the same category, ever). Then there is stuff like American Dad, Family Guy, Rome, various horror works and so on. However I do recall a post in another thread where Eddie implied (actually I think it was stronger than an implication, but since I can't find the post in amongst all the thread mess I can't say how explicit the statement was) that the main target of this is Anime and Manga, possibly with webcomics added in there too. I suspect they'll be subject to the strictest interpretations possible in line with that, and no special pleading allowed in their cases.

I think some of you are forgetting we don't get a lot of choice this time. It has to do with funding for the site. That cuts off a lot of choices. This is necessitated by the situation. May not like it but it helps keep the site going without having to take an axe to parts of the site.

Read the OP here. It's not about funding anymore.

Indeed, even if totally legit works get cut, it's better than losing the whole site.

Anime and Manga tend to cover more controversial topics, so I can see why the bias is there. But have none of the Western shows gotten cutlisted?

@ 257 can we stop with that line of argument please. It's not been about funding for ages, we've moved far beyond the "required for funding" in the scope of this.

@ 262 and they fish in a different culture's meme-pool too. That leaves them exposed to a lot of attacks by people not so inclined to see beyond the limits of American (US?) cultural norms.

@L Mage: As did Romeo And Juliet. And see, this is why we need an official straightening out of what needs to be cut. It can't be vague wordings for that makes nearly anything fair game.

@262 The only cutlisting I am aware of under the new policy is the content of the Hentai page. If we have Western hardcore pornography on this site, I'm not aware of it, and it certainly isn't on a convenient index to get nuked at once.

Ok, let me help here.

ASOIAF wasn't nearly cut. There were plenty of people who were abusing the cutlist due to mass panic at that point.

@Bookyangel: Funding is still a big issue; it's just not the topic of this specific thread. If you want to look at the thread that is about that, I'll link you to it.

@266: Yes, it's about opinions. I'm presuming that when FE started this site, he didn't intend this sort of thing to be on it. Sort of like how the founder of Encyclopedia Dramatica cut funding because he didn't want to be the host for one of the most vicious hives of trolls on the net.

A Song Of Ice And Fire and Romeo And Juliet did not "nearly get cut." Some people put them on the cutlist to attempt to make some kind of over-the-top point about the new no-pedo rules, and the cuts were denied. The people who cutlisted those works were not mods.

Ninja'd by lu.

Also, someone please explain to me what the "proper context" would be for a graphic, clearly titillating pedo-sex scene?
