So apparently the first episode of the Eureka Seven sequel series aired/will air today. Anybody know anything more about that?

It's aired and you can find raws fairly easily. No subs yet

Huh; that was different. I'm excited to see just where they're going with the setting now; a lot seems different now compared to the world of Eureka Seven, and hopefully they'll explain that.

Also nice: Ao is definitely not Renton. He's really a helluva lot more interesting than Renton at that.

Earth returned into its original state after second Summer of Love, though you have right, settings seems to be different even if we consider that. Maybe prequel? We were never told how old Eureka was...

No, that doesn't sound right either.

According to the descriptions, it takes place in 2025. That can't make sense in any way without time travel. And not much with time travel either.

So it realy is prequel huh. About time before Corral take over Earth. I guess Renton isn't dad then...

[down]Or realy is.. . Maybe its alternative continuum. In that case EVERYTHING make perfect sense

Also, the flying cars seem to ride on Trapar. Technology in general also seems to be more advanced than it used to be at a general level (touchscreen cell phones, the Internet, no old-school motorcycles) and Scub Coral is apparently supposed to be common knowledge at this point.

...All of this only raises further questions.

[up]Ao looks exactly like you'd think Renton and Eureka's son would though; I guess we'll have to wait and see?

Watched the first episode. On its own merit, fantastic first episode.

In context of the original... So it's... a prequel... starring the children of the original cast...

What???

it might be simply that after how things ended in the original, they started a new date calendar of some nature.

Though technologi seems to be one of 20 Minutes into the Future (cars desing, cities and such) not mention politic situation. I mean had anyone in original Eureka ever heard about Japan?

Though I don't have problem with that either way...

This anime is beauteous. I plan to keep watching it for the Scenery Porn alone.

Plus, seeing those kids, they're so obviously their parents' children, seeing them makes me so nostalgic... Now I understand how my honorary uncles and aunts feel about me: it's like meeting a younger, combined version of two very dear friends... you can't help but like them!

It's not a prequel. Apparently, Eureka Seven actually took place in 2005.

I can't find a source, but it seems that were some subtle clues in the episodes concerning the characters' birth dates. Example.

[up][up][up]

well, keep in mind, they likely knew about earth in general. Its just prior to the end of E7, Nobody was TOLD that the scub-coral planet was earth.

It was good, can't wait to see where it goes.

Yeah, E7 took place in 2005 (But by that time the humans who were in the original ship that found scub covered earth had changed the calendar) so this is twenty years after that.

[up] They did know about the earth, it was in one of Eureka/Renton's textbooks and that's how they found out about the planet being a scub covered earth (IIRC).

Yeah, this must be about twenty years after E7. Eureka is confirmed to be Ao's mother at the end of the episode.

It's been fun.

Well, hell if I know. It wasn't a surprise to me, but it was set up like it was intended to be one - and even knowing that, seeing Eureka's name show up on the bracelet was a nice thrill.

It's been fun.

She wore a necklace-tag thing (How Dewey activated her and Anemone's scub-connection in the final episode) but I can't remember if she wore a bracelet-tag too...

I will never be mad about anime introducing too many different terms for things happening,if I have to put 'scub' infront of another word I am going to scream.

Just watched the first episode and wow, how nostalgic I now feel! Eureka Seven was one of the first ever anime series for me, and all the time during this episode I was just squeeing at the familiar character design, the scenery and the great music~
Can't say that I remember the bracelet from the original series, but it's been a while since I watched it.
Since I had completely forgotten that this was starting now, I had not been following any spoilers. Eureka's name appearing in the bracelet was indeed a nice touch, and her being Ao's mother isn't that surprising when you think about it now after seeing the episode.
I wonder why every organization ever has to use kids as their mecha pilots...
Ooh, I can't wait for the next episode!

One interesting thing I sort-of remembered...

That beach that Ao lands his FP on... isn't that the same beach from near the end of the original series? My brain was flashing 'you've seen that before, dumbass' signals at almost every new shot.

It's been fun.

I'd think that area would be... damaged to say the least, but it would be nice if it were a visual Call-Back (In-universe, maybe they cleaned it up).

Well, I have no way to check, but that rock formation out in the ocean looked distinctive enough that I had to wonder.

It's been fun.
