And okay, while I get that, saying that the writer abandoned her speech difficulties is not accurate. I can get disagreeing how the play recital scene was handled, but literally the exact same page makes it clear she still has her handicap. So saying he's being inconsistent or forgot about it or whatever just doesn't actually jibe with what's actually written there.
Ok looking at the one-shots for Dark Days here are who they each represent:
The Red Death/The Flash, The Murderer Machine/Cyborg, The Dawnbreaker/Green Lantern, The Drowned/Aquaman, The Merciless/Wonder Woman, The Devastator/Doomsday(?) & The Batman Who Laughs is obviously the Joker. Devastator is the only one I'm having trouble figuring out since Doomy doesn't have an insignia but they have similar builds.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Some of the comments hated that "Batman has to constantly get shown up in Detective Comics by other members of the Batfamily"
Yeah, I've heard those same complaints, and they honestly make me wonder if they're reading the same book as I am.
Damn. I wish I understood how people can be so vindictive toward such minor things (or maybe I don't, come to think of it).
I think you're in for a treat. IMO this was the best opener to an arc in a while. There are a lot of choices that made this issue feel fresh, and it has some of the best character interactions yet.
My stories on AO3.Anyone read the crossover with Elmer Fudd? It was amazing.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Still working on Wonder Woman/Tasmanian Devil.... and Legion of Super Heroes/Bugs Bunny.... and Martian Manhunter/Marvin Martian....
I only picked up Legion/Bugs, but a friend of mine said that Elmer Fudd/Batman was the second best of the lot.
It was okay.
My stories on AO3.I burst down laughing at the very first line:
Way to set the tone.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. That Batman and Harley Quinn movie is getting a prequel comic. http://www.cbr.com/batman-harley-animated-film-prequel-comic/
"It’s the team-up we’ve been dreaming of as the cute psychopath Harley Quinn joins the brooding Dark Knight for a brand-new Digital First comic series, HARLEY QUINN AND BATMAN. The series, from Batman writer Ty Templeton and artist Rick Burchett, is an exciting new five-chapter prequel adventure to the Batman And Harley Quinn animated film coming out this August from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.
Harley Quinn is a legend in her own mind, so when she realizes the Joker thinks of her as a sidekick, she takes her revenge. Harley’s now faced with a hard decision to break out as her own super-villain, and she’s willing to go for it!"

The Protomen enhanced my life.Rick Burchett's Detective Comics work is super under-rated, so its cool to see DC bringing him back for more Batman stuff.
You're just in time. Bayble Cuber's going to watch an inkle dribble adventure from days of old on my holo-pyramid viewer.Ty Templeton's still doing DC stuff? Hallelujah.
No joke - Templeton is the only writer I can think of who can actually match Dini's Harley, though that might be because he almost exclusively wrote for DCAU tie-in comics...
So is the film canon to the DCAU or is it standalone? Also I wonder if it will tackle Harley and Ivy's sexuality.
It's done in the BTAS style, but standalone, and it seems to be shipping Harley and Nightwing, as she and Ivy had a falling-out apparently. Ivy and the Floronic Man are the villains, so Batman recruits Harley to help him fight them and figure out their plan. Bruce Timm's writing it.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Ah. Can we expect more Batcest, then?
Probably, with plenty of Harley hitting on Batman. Harley has exhibited interest in maybe half the bat family, from hitting on a couple of Batgirls to that time she kissed Batman-twice, and made sure the second one was on the lips and lingering.
"Don't push your luck."
To be fair, he'd done her a real solid that one time. Or at least he tried.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.I remember one of the things I didn't like in that episode is it portrayed Harley like a poor, innocent Cloud Cuckoo Lander. I mean, she used to function in the regular world just fine. In service to the Joker, she masqueraded as a lawyer. Now, she doesn't know enough to not roller-skate around in public with a pair of hyenas, and flips out when a store clerk just wants to remove a security tag.
Don't get me wrong, it's a great, funny episode, but it hinges on the idea that Harley's brains all flew out the window when she was released from Arkham.
Hand Wave: when in service of Mr. Jay, she makes a tremendous effort of will to focus and perform the task at hand to perfection. Otherwise how did a psychiatrist become an acrobatic mallet-wielding Badass Normal?
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. She got through University on a gymnastics scholarship, I believe. And in the post-Crisis canon Ivy's little "booster shot" made her at least mildly superhuman in strength and speed.
She got into university on the scholarship, but she's still a phd. That takes a lot of time, effort and intelligence.
So my fanfic is finally happening: Joker becomes a good guy in Batman: White Knight.
Great.
I mean, if Bane could do it, I suppose it was only a matter of time before the Joker did.
Okay, you're losing me a little but I can kind of see this working, I mean, Joker was a comedian maybe, right? That would be who he would be if he weren't the Joker. And Bruce Wayne as a proper careless, evil corporate leader? Still going to be a comic book worth r-
Though he stopped short of revealing his series’ premise ahead of the official unveiling, Murphy has been teasing his plans to add his own spin to the Batman mythos. One of his earlier tweets, in which he shared his take on the Joker, promised, “My Batman story makes it OK to have a crush on Joker!” With the Clown Prince of Crime (and apparently his longtime girlfriend Harley Quinn) now cast in the role of savior rather than enemy of Gotham, it’s now clear that he really meant what he wrote.
Groan.
I might loathe this guy's apparent mentality in regards to this mythos but I like the idea of role reversal in general.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Damn, I'd never noticed. That is wrong on so many levels.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. But what about Cesar Romeo and Jack Nicholson's Jokers? :P
The Protomen enhanced my life.
And I'm saying, as someone who has a speech disorder, that it comes across like a slap to the face when one of the only nonverbal superheroes suddenly starts reciting Shakespeare with no prior buildup.
Under Kelley Puckett, it took Cassandra Cain years before she could even say a sentence as simple as "Wanted to be free".
