I'm seeing the first punch (well, kick) in the image, but no love anywhere. So it doesn't illustrate the trope.

Ookamisan's Cinderella with a twist story (he ends up looking for the girl who kicked him instead of the shoe left behind) might work.... lets see how well the images turn out though

I find the subtitle in the second pic confusing... It doesn't say anything about love, but that he "decided to raise our Cinderella". That sounds like him becoming a surrogate father to her, not a lover.

[up] I agree that that would help.

If it can't be found/done, though, then I'd prefer keeping the current image. I think the expression on the guy's face puts it above bad image territory.

EDIT: If by some bizarre miracle I'm right, should the current image be cropped? The negative space on the left in the current version bugs me. I think this is better, though if I've gone overboard I can try again:
