This◊ is probably going to get vetoed, though I find them all to be functionally identical.
I don't really think any of the suggestions are any better.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.I think what we really need is something that shows both the units and the stats, so you can see they are functionally identical.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayMust it be an in-game shot? The stats of both ships are available online.

If a chicken crosses the road and nobody else is around to see it, does the road move beneath the chicken instead?Fire Emblem does this sort of thing◊ a lot. I'll see if I can find a better image.
Belief or disbelief rests with you.Isnt that just Pallete Swap?
This they have to look different but have the same abilities.
IE In the Halo multiplayer Elites and Spartans are exactly alike aside from the obvious differences by the former being alien and the latter being human.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!What about this from Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness?
Alternatively, with the title if needed:

Ok I like that a lot, without the title works though as we will pothole to the work.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Prefer the titleless version.
Like the titleless version too.

One or two more for that pic and we can run with it.
The title doesn't add anything; supporting the version sans it.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. Here's the second extra vote you needed.
Make it so.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.Done, potholed, and tagged. Caption or no?
"Da red wunz dun go fasta." Or without the accent.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything. This needs a caption, but I'm not sure what...
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.Eh...I think I see what you're getting at but I'm not sure that it works very well. Anyone else?

"They even share a soft spot for drumsticks."
Eh. Maybe no. Some lampshading?
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.Idea:
"Okay, I guess that's a little bit more effort than Chess..."
Or another game that features a Palette Swap.

That, I could get behind. Hell, that would've been a much simpler route to take for the pic itself.
I like #23.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.
This image relies on the caption to demonstrate the trope. There is no way to tell from the picture alone that the two spaceships have identical function.
One idea I had for a replacement is something like The Red Alert 2 Attack Dog icons. These would demonstrate the trope better because they are both clearly Attack Dogs, just a different breed, which presumably has no in game effect. Amphibious Transports from the same game would also work.
The only issue I can forsee with this is that since they are icons, the picture quality would be terrible. Does anyone have ideas for a replacement with decent quality?
