Hyperactive Sprite and Idle Animation both seem to ignore one case: The one where sprites are constantly animated, but still have separate animations between "standing" and "walking" (such as in Prehistorik Man or in Nippon Ichi games: in Disgaea, characters breathe, hover 10cm above the ground with wind in their hair, etc.)

I'm in favor of adding this to Hyperactive Sprite, but with a split in the middle of the page.

I'm not sure I see anything in that other than simply Animated Sprite. It sort of seems like default.

[up]Depends on the era and game, but I understand what you mean. And even sprites with a "standing" animation can have an Idle Animation, for those are not mutually exclusive.

Unless someone else chimes in, I'll just update the description of Hyperactive Sprite to explicitly exclude "standing" animations.

Point is rather that a standing sprite is what you'd expect. There's no point to it, nor does it stand out in anyway. While you would expect running sprites as standing ones in the old days, they still stand out as odd.

If they have a specific standing sprite, I don't think it's this trope.

I've also never seen an example with Idle Animation that doesn't have a regular standing one, so that part of the overlap is kind of omnipresent.

The Smurfs on the SNES has an Idle Animation but the Player Character is otherwise immobile when standing still.
