I mean, if some of them said "I'll just take out the Omni-king before he can do it" or something it would be one thing. I would still be stupid as hell, but it's a rationale at least. Just going "don't care" even after it's all been explained is mindbogglingly nonsensical.
Even just being too afraid to participate makes more sense than apathy.

I now believe that Zamasu did nothing wrong.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?
What's funny is that the narrative treats Frieza as an especially evil being because he doesn't care about his own universe being erased.....and yet we have Caulifla not giving a shit in front of her "precious protegee", and Krillin unironically saying that Android 18 would not enter the tournament if there was no money involved.
They don't care either, not unless there's something in it for them, so why is Frieza singled out here...?
What kind of bullshit is this?

Honestly I think that makes it worse. Frieza literally has no reason to care and no attachments. That was supposed to make him more evil, but when you're acknowledging the others do have reasons to care and still needed to either be bribed or give them frivolous reason to compete...
"18, your daughter and your husband's monastery will be erased from existence if you don't participate."
"Pay me, bitches."
Are we sure Frieza is the villain here?
These characters have incredible masks...they're so dense even the audience can't see through them.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I think there trying to maintain the characters quirk's like 18's money-grubbing nature or the general "I don't give a fuck" attitude some characters in this series has.
Issue is that this is a situation where survival takes absolute precedence so everyone not immediately agreeing to fight comes off like a fucking dumbass cause its literally do or die.
It could also be a very forced attempt at drama.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Well, they better keep this nonsense consistent then.
I don't want to see Caulifla giving a fuck all of a sudden if she becomes in danger of losing during the fight.
She didn't care then, so why would she start caring a few hours later?
Super? Consistent? Not likely.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Didn't someone on here point out that the cast is basically made out of assholes? I guess that extends to literally everyone in the franchise, as even the Pride Troopers and Gohan don't seem to give a fuck about the other universes.
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!Why would she not care about losing a fight?
It's a fight, she is Saiya-jin...
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Hey, getting erased is one thing, but losing a fight? That's a big deal!
18 is basically Dragonball's Scrooge McDuck. Just because she's going to do the right thing doesn't mean she's not going to make for damn sure that she gets paid for doing it.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.
I'm assuming that they think they can fix everything with the Super Dragon Balls anyway, so right now they're just focusing on winning, just to guarantee their own safety first. Reasonable, I guess.
You have to ask though, at what point do they stop being assholes, and just complete nihilistic sociopaths?

I would justify the more moral members like Gohan & the Pride Troopers not caring of the other universes as cold hard acceptance as they realize they can do little else due to Zeno & the Grand Priest being unstoppable Gods.
I would imagine Toppo knows a lot about the Godly hierarchy due to being a future God of Destruction himself.
I really hope someone says "No, you can't use the D-Balls to save yours or other peoples asses this time."

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The Pride Troopers feel fine to me. Toppo has been expressing concern about the possibility of them losing and worrying their universe will be erased. I think they're more concerned about what will happen to their side if they lose rather than realizing "We might kill other people if we win."
I'd laugh if that happened.
"Whelp, I guess everyone's fucked then. Anyone want coffee?"

That's pretty much the tragedy of this situation.
Either you fight & condemn other people to oblivion or you don't fight cause you can't in good conscious do that even to complete strangers but at the same time that would mean killing your friends, family & the rest of the people in your universe counting on you. There is no right answer.
Its like in New Avengers where the Illuminati had to face a constant world ending threat where the only solution was destroying other worlds. Captain America basically went "No I will not commit atrocities even to save people even if we might die" & the rest of the group like Iron Man & Black Panther disagreed so they mind-wiped him & kicked him out of the group & afterwards they went on to commit atrocities to save the world..
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Seeing as this is the same group that shot Hulk in the space, only for that mess to rear its ugly head again, I'm not surprised.
Clearly, the great Bergamo is the true hero here. He, at least, attempted to wager towards preventing the Tournament from happening with his fight against Goku. If only Goku had thrown in the fight after reaching SSB with Kaioken; the Grand Priest would have never noticed...

Y'know it's not really a tournament, is it? It's just a battle royal.
My various fanfics. They keep calling it the Tournament of Power, though. I am curious to see how much teamwork will actually play a part here.
It does feel like a very poor attempt st drama tbh.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. That's cool, drama stinks anyway...
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I kind of want this arc to end on a complete Downer Ending where all 7 losing Universes, including U7, are completely destroyed for real.
The twist is that all 70 fighters from those Universes get to live in the winning Universe and, much like the Saiyan attack to Namek, the next arc deals with the 80 fighters and some people from the remaining 5 Universes reversing the consequences of the previous arc and fighting against the judgement of the Gods themselves.
Zamasu was right. Send the ningens into the light.
