The Fey Knight chuckled at the girl's forthcoming nature as he stepped out of the vehicle. You didn't see anyone that honest in the Courts- they didn't survive long.

"Greetings, everyone. Any of you who wish may call me Cathal. Apologies for having been so reclusive on the ride here- I was adjusting to the stone."

"Call me Matheld." Brief and and verging on the cold side were her words. The ride was horrendous, yes, but not the woman had seen worse. At any rate, what turned the entire situation into an unpleasant encounter was Zerithor's confused response, especially that very last question of his. As the woman stood clear, making sure that her attire, which looked eerily similar to that of a flower seller from the cities, except in the gloomy colors of black and grey, was clean of dust, she looked toward the man 'greeting her.' What little amount of sunlight able to penetrate the hood that covered her head revealed a face of a terminally ill woman, deathly pale and all.

"As to what to do with us, well, I'd assume that you always need more hunters."

"Or was the notion false?"

The mage sighed as the group introduced themselves. "Ayla's always hounding me to assign more hunters, that's one problem out of the way. The rest of you - I suppose we'll need even more people tending to the garden now." He sighed again, pointing down the road to the east, "But another group of recruits left for town a few hours ago, and Krayhal's going to throw a fit if I call him off of the wall for two meetings in a single day, so you'll receive your assignments when they return. They should be back soon enough - unload your supplies and get something in the mess hall. You'll want to get a room, first, though - any unlocked door in the towers that hasn't been opened recently should be free."

The pickaxe, having missed entirely, flew back to Antonio, who caught it in midair. He began shifting position, looking for another angle from which he could toss his weapon.

"Mellow!" Roland hissed. "Were you listening?" Mak'karath's assault had bought them some time, but they had to act soon if they were going to end the fight.

"Whatever you are going to do, do it," Jian Yu said, looking up at the enemy, "Because he is not going to wait for us."

She sighed, holding more defensive anti-magic seals to block the blasts. It looked like she would need it, if her companions did not do something soon. And if they missed, there was a chance that even more buildings would be damages in the onslaught.

She still did not see any weakness in the leprechaun's powers, as his orb was glowing brighter now...then it hit her. If the orb changed color and brightness depending on how he used it...then perhaps making him fire it more often was the key.

"I have it," she suddenly told the others, "Someone, stand near me and try to draw his fire. Taunt him if you have to, but make him fire his blasts towards me. Hurry, please." She knew she did not have time to explain, and hoped they would just do what she asked...

Laeven nodded and started heading for the western tower. "I guess I'll go claim a room, then, even though I don't have any supplies to unload."

Roland was still chafing from having his plan scuttled for such a silly, silly reason. Back in the monasteries, we'd never have tolerated this kind of impudence -

- and then he remembered that he was no longer one of the elders, and no longer commanded or deserved such respect. Learn humility, Roland Ashcroft, he chided himself. You can't get your own way all the time. Still, he would have words with Mellow later if they survived this.

"...make him fire his blasts towards me."

Roland's eyes would've bugged out of his skull if they could. "Woman, do you seek death?" he blurted, aghast, and whirled around, ready to castigate Jian Yu for such a stupid, suicidal idea... and then he saw her face. That was not the look of a fool who rushed into the fray thoughtlessly; he could sense that the girl was taking a calculated risk. Clearly, he wasn't the only one with ideas up their sleeves.

Grudgingly, he conceded. "We'll do it your way, then - and if this doesn't work, help me appeal my case in the celestial realms." In a flash, he'd bounded over to the rubble and hefted up a large, broken support beam, easily the height of a full-grown man - and then, with a loud roar, he hurled it squarely at the floating leprechaun.

"If you like shooting beams so much, you can have this one!"

Still busy blocking the chain golem's attack, the leprechaun was nearly blindsided by the beam. Blue lights shot out from the top of the cane too late as it reached him, sending the both of them flying back, crashing into the wall of another house, thirty feet behind the one that the recruits had already wrecked. After the dust quickly settled, the beam lay motionless.

The chain golem dropped the piece of rubble he was carrying and ran over to where he had seen the leprechaun land, digging through the rubble in hope of finding him.

Moving a piece of a broken wall section revealed a small cavity under the beam, where the leprechaun's cane lay.*

However, moving the rubble also revealed a small black pot* filled with gold coins. An an hourglass attached to the side rotated as the rubble was lifted off of it, the sand inside starting to fall, with about fifteen seconds until all of the sand fell to the bottom.

The leprechaun himself was nowhere to be found.

"So our current mission is to unload and get something in the mess hall?"

Emily gave off a salute to the mage and then headed to her room.

The fairy's lip twitched at the corner.

"There may be a problem," he announced in a dulcimer lilt. "The door-handles are likely made of iron. I have, ah, let us call it allergies. I will need a room with a handle of a different material. . . Brass, perhaps? Also, I must be invited in. Apologies for the inconvenience."

Zerithor only stared in disbelief as the girl saluted and walked off. He turned to the fairy and let out a breath, "All the iron in the keep's an alloy that has a bit of silver and mithril mixed in, would that still cause an issue?*

Otherwise something could be arranged."

"Silver, you say?"

The knight ponders for a few moments in silence.

"That may negate the properties of the iron enough. We shall see."

He bows, and as he rises, a pair of translucent gossamer wings appear on his back. He floats languidly through the door, in search of the mess hall- after all, even Fairies need to eat.

Jian Yu blinked, caught off guard by the result of the attack. "I...did not expect that," she admitted, lowering the hand holding the intended defensive seal. "Then again, I suppose I am not familiar with leprechauns. Do they normally vanish when blasted?"

She glanced over at Roland, wondering if he knew. After all, if anyone could have predicted this, it would be him.

"Keep your guard up. We don't want any surprises." The monk was equally nonplussed, more from the fact that he'd managed to hit the leprechaun at all than from his vanishing. "I wouldn't put it past the fae to pull a disappearing act on us, but I'm not one to chase after pots of gold at the rainbow's end. Speaking of which, one of you should secure the cane. As for the rest... What've you got there, Mak'karath?""

Roland walked up to the golem, carefully making a wide berth around the fallen cane, and his eyes widened as he saw the sands start trickling down the hourglass. "Mak'karath - RUN!" he yelled. "All mages, barriers around the cauldron, stat! Treachery!"

Laeven picked a room about three quarters of the way up the tower, with a decent view of the middle of the keep (Courtyard or whatever). Having done so, he took a piece of chalk from a dresser and wrote his name on the door; under this, he drew a simple pentacle *

and willed a little magic into it. The pentacle faded to invisibility. If'n anyone touches the handle of the door, the pentacle's circle will glow red and make a quiet yet pervasive hissing sound. If whomever it is opens the door, it'll persist long enough that Laeven should find out about it when he gets back.

That done, he set off for the mess hall for breakfast/lunch/dinner

.

The mess was empty as Laeven and Cathal entered, the rest of the keep's inhabitants having finished lunch already. It was quiet, save for the sounds of cookware which could be heard through the kitchen door.

The hourglass had eight seconds of sand remaining in the top half.

"Oh, curses!"

Karin runs towards the cauldron and without a moment to lose started her spellcasting. Thankfully for her, she had already prepared herself to use defensive spells since she was on assignment to protect everyone from the attacks of the Leprechaun.

Laeven obtained some food from the kitchen, sat at one of the tables, and took a bit of cloth *

out of the pouch at his side. He laid it on the table next to his plate; inked onto it was a pentacle. As he ate, he held his hand over it, and a small blue sphere appeared. Practicing illusion magic; he's still a novice at it, but tries to improve on it for something to do when he's bored. Under his hand, the sphere starting gradually changing colors.

His wizard's staff leaned against the wall behind him. I keep forgetting to account for it.

"Hey!" Feltar ran out of the kitchen, holding a large pot and aspoon. "Captain told me the second that Krayhal saw people coming, I thought I'd be able to greet you all with something hot, but it looks like you beat me here. No problem, though." He started scooping hot potatoes onto Laeven's plate, "That's a pretty ball, what are you doing?"

The last grain of sand fell to the bottom of the hourglass, and the pot of gold burst. Black pieces of the pot and glittering gold coins flew in all directions, with Karin's barrier shielding her and those near her. Various other pieces flew upwards into the sky and rained down over the town, or back and into the house's wall, floor, and roof.

A few townsfolk - who had come out to see what was going on - ran around frantically, trying to grab as many of the coins from the ground as they could, completely ignoring the fact that the scene had been a battlefield just a moment ago.

The rescued woman was still with the unconscious man, trying to shake him awake.

A stray coin flew up and smacked Roland right in the head - but fortunately for him, he felt no pain, nor was there anything left of him that a simple coin could damage. He picked it up and tucked it into the folds of his robe, along with a stray shard of cauldron. We'll need to see if Captain Zerithor has any analysts under his command.

The crowd was erupting into pandemonium around the team as they scrambled for the stray coins. "Right, people. Get the orb, and let's get our guests back to the keep. Unless any of you would like to institute some crowd control..."

Karin was slightly shaken after he explosion, though she was quick to recover... and seeing how the town was a in quite a chaotic state she didn't think it twice in agreeing with Roland in that they had to get away from there.

Thus she walked over to the orb and attempted to pick it up for transport "I got this... lets all try to hurry back to the keep"
