The Kuradeel scene was specifically Kirito at his most emotionally vulnerable though, shortly after breaking down in front of Asuna about the Sachi thing. And immediately after it he asks to stay with Asuna, presumably for emotional support. I really don't think it makes much sense for his emotional breakdowns to be so... segregated, when they involve the exact same trigger.
His emotional vulnerability during the Kuradeel scene(in which he is literally dying) is mostly relevant to Asuna isn't it? I had thought part of the emotional support was also so he could specifically be secure in Asuna's safety, with her being in front of him at her house and all.
I figured his other issues were something to worry less about after Asuna comforted him after he revealed his Sachi issues too.
The trigger might be the same, but it's in totally different circumstances. (Not saying you don't have a point though, I imagine it could have also been something in the Fairy Dance arc, although it would involve introducing another theme to the arc that might feel like it doesn't blend that well with the main one.)
MMORPGs are serious business.Episode 6:
- Oh, the memories. The bad horrid memories of a chaotic time. That LC expedition reminded of one thing, though: Klein not losing a single member from his guild. Because he's that awesome.
- Hm, should've accepted it long ago, but Kirito gets shaken very easily. Hm, but it looks like DG really is a wraith...
- Get your head into the game! Both of you. Kirito, you're spacing out in despair-induced rage! Sinon, you're spacing out over identical personal stuff that's irrelevant to the task at hand!
- And so, Kirito wins this round. I wonder if that's enough for DG to say, "So, it is you, you punk!?"...
One of the things people tend to gloss over about Kirito is that he's just as emotionally vulnerable as anyone else if not more so. Aincrad took its toll on every SAO survivor and we haven't seen Kirito go through the recovery for that kind of trauma.
dis episode
in which I go
NO KIRITO DON'T STOP EATING SUGU'S CONCERNS ARE NOT THAT IMPORTANT
NO KIRITO DON'T KEEP ASUNA ALONE LIKE THAT YUI CAN TAKE CARE OF HERSELF (for a short period of time. I totally get why Kirito's leaving Asuna out though...)
NO KIRITO DITCH THE NURSE ASUNA WILL MAKE EEEEEEEEEEEVERRYTHING BETTER FOR YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
oh, and in which Shino does the whole "GOSH, I HATE HIM! Well, not like...hate-hate him..." routine, inspiring audience-relateable creepy guy to try taking advantage of the situation
MMORPGs are serious business. In which I am given further reasons to not watch it.
Seriously, I hate it when there's some kind of problem and the solution is really freaking obvious. It's exponentially worse when said solution should be really freaking obvious to the character(s).
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! What problem are you referring to?
Author of The Second Coming (NGE) and The Coin (Haruhi). It was just a general statement. Stream of consciousness, if you will.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Havn't gotten that far in season 1 yet (ep 6 so far), having Kirito freak out NOW really seems like writer just decided to tack it on because they remembered the issue.
Season 1 Asuna was cooler.
just so you know Zelenal
the reason why Kirito is refraining from relying on Asuna here isn't because he doesn't think she can help, but because he doesn't want to worry her
which made me really frustrated because of how I want Kirito to feel better but at the same time even though I believe Asuna would rather hear about what's happening anyway(for the sake of being in-character) I found Kirito's choice of action to be highly admirable, due to how it shows me how he cherishes them even now (and because he probably totally knows Asuna would try her best to get involved if he actually told her anything about the job having a risk)
I think the scene where Asuna calls him was anime-original though
I don't remember that Klein in ALO getting poisoned thing in the LN either
MMORPGs are serious business.Oh, I understand perfectly. If I were in Kazuto's place, I'd probably think the same thing. However, just because I understand doesn't mean I have to like it.
Like, if the wiki was right, the reason Kirito even wins his fight against Death Gun or whatever is because he feels Asuna holding his hand in the real world (since the AmuSphere apparently doesn't block out external stimuli as well as the NervGear did) and that both gives him the strength to win and I think reminds him that he actually has a gun or something. If that's true, I absolutely love that. I find it to be a special kind of awesome that was prevalent throughout half of Aincrad and in several scenes in Fairy Dance. I love it when the hero is fueled by The Power of Love and especially when he's a part of a Battle Couple.
It's the fact that the Badass Adorable Battle Couple isn't the focus that annoys me.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Episode 7:
- Yeah, you are totally fooling Sugu, Kaz.
- Shinkawa's being too pushy... Don't really like that...
- Crap, a Wraithadeel! Don't remember such nasty things while biking, Kirito...
- The fact that you remember killing them means you didn't exactly erase them from your memories forever. ...That counts for something, right?
- Blue Salamander uses Poison Gas! Klein is poisoned! And he nearly fainted, too.
- Seriously, Shinkawa? Stop being so pushy! If Sinon loses disgracefully, it's on you!
- And so, it ends tonight.

He'll be a Battle Couple with his Heterosexual Life Partner Eugeo in Alicization, does that count?
(I hope so, because Alicization is, like, half of the series.)
and
Please use spoiler tags when talking about future episodes and arcs, or at least put a warning at the start of your posts so that people who watch only the anime would know to avoid reading them.
It's Episode 7, not Episode 6.
To be fair, I don't really that much to talk about Episode 7. Except the fact that I don't like Kirito angsting about he can't remember the players that he killed back in SAO. coughkuradelcough
I also don't like the fact that Shino disliking Kirito for 'deceiving' her gender. Let's leave that here.
This episode is really slow for an episode that doesn't use too much flashbacks.
funniest thing is, when I first saw Eugeo's design
I was like
"is this Asuna playing a male character?"
MMORPGs are serious business. My one problem with this ep is how Kirito continues to be dishonest to Asuna. ...you know... his GIRL-FRIEND??? I was watching the scene with the hot nurse and all i could think of was "this should be done word for word with Asuna in her place!" What the Hell!
Meanwhile, I want to see a show starring Klein with Kirito's harem instead! They looked like they were having so much fun, and I can see they have a good dynamic between them all!

kyun we're in agreement
stop that
MMORPGs are serious business. You have no idea how badly I want to rant and rave at that poor writing choice right now.
I will forever swear by the Aincrad arc. Everything past that was just unnecessary. Seriously, just throw in an epilogue showing Kazuto and Asuna readjusting to real life and maybe throw in some narration about Kazuto becoming a scientist of sorts and making a way to bring virtual reality into the real world so they can be with Yui and it would have been golden. Make the closing scenes a wedding and you would have had an instant classic, I think.
In my opinion, nothing can kill a work faster than a Post-Script Season.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I'm pretty sure Fairy Dance is the closest thing to a Post-Script Season though, which isn't as unappealing to you as Phantom Bullet is.
There's also SAO:Progressive but that is nowhere near finished right now.
MMORPGs are serious business.I can understand Kirito's perspective, though. I mean, would you be able to sleep soundly knowing that your significant other is out hunting a known murderer? Especially a kind of psychopath laughing coffin tends to be?
Still, it's still easy to gloss over the fact that Kirito is still a teenage. He's making a rookie mistake with a relationship since if there's one person he should be confiding in it's Asuna.
Also, that nurse strikes me as far more important to the plot than she lets on.
I've already made my complaints against Fairy Dance and how that could have been handled better as well. There's little point in me stating the exact same thing repeatedly.
But I'll shut up now. My bitching is meaningless so I'll say no more.
For now, at least.
This is actually one instance where I'm completely ignoring the Watsonian answer. If I went purely by that like I normally do, I doubt I'd be mad. It's the bullshit Doylist reasons that bug me since they get in the way of why I loved the show in the first place.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Stop what?
That was my first time visiting the thread after watching the ep. I had to watch it later than most people. You are aware that there is a chance people DON'T READ the previous posts before theirs'.
Geez.

It's okay. They're probably just annoyed that you said pretty much exactly what I've been saying. I've been more than a little heavy handed with my distaste for the direction things went, I'll admit.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!
Kirito's still in his swordsman persona at that point though, and it's less of a reminder and more of an active threat that's simply appeared in another instance rather than anything unexpected. Surpressing is a lot easier when he's living somewhere where the threat of potential death is always looming, instead of it being an alien danger that's suddenly showing up in your otherwise mostly peaceful life.
Granted he was also scared of potentially dying by Death Gun even before diving into GGO, and probably should have prepared a mentality ready for that.
