Who?
Leader of the guild Asuna was a member of in the first season.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaAnd let's avoid spoilers for the newcomer, hmm? :)
Did you say spoil him sure here —> KIRITO WILL BE REBORN AS A GIRL
Silica becomes dovakin.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaI already cried when Silica's pet died, and I also cried when that one girl left Kirito a message and sang Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
ppppppppfeiufiofuiorjfadkfbnjkdflaosigjbkghuiafjkldjnbaghkdI wouldn't mind an interquel series with Kirito and the Black Cats' adventures.

I really hope when Kawahara reaches that point in the Progressive series he will spend a good deal a time with them. We'll get to know them, and for a moment we will think he's going to retcon what happened then BAM. Their fate is unchanged and then follow it with several volumes of depressed, emo Kirito because I kinda want that.
Blog - TumblrI wonder what Kawahara thinks of Re Zero and its author Tappei Nagatsuki and how he brutally rips apart all of the cliche's Kawahara ended up popularized in modern Light Novels....
Watch SymphogearGoing back to the episode of him getting material for a strong sword with Lizbeth gives the idea that he was still effected by the guilds demise since his reasons for going off the cliff to save Liz was so she would not die alone if I am remembering that correctly.
I would like to see more of how apparently guilds were trying to recruit him to avoid him getting himself killed or Klein's adventures since he had no casualties in his guild.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaI watched some more on break at work today.
I'm in love.

Watch me destroying my countryMaybe they'll improve upon the source material. Maybe it'll be dumb downed crap. Considering most American adaptations of Japanese media probably the latter.
I'm betting the game itself will be a Game of Thrones-esque "gritty fantasy" and the fight scenes will all be shit because you can't out super powered sword fights on a TV budget outside tokusatsu.
Is it possible to cast someone that makes you want to strangle them as much as Kirito?
Besides Justin Beiber?
As much as certain anime purists whine about how much English/American adaptions/dubs ruin everything, we've got an American Ghost in the Shell, an American Death Note remake, and now an American Sword Art TV show coming out. Japan even took RWBY and made a big thing about it - these creators are nowhere as opposed against porting stuff over as the internet would have you believe.
I have zero optimism about this and question who backs these decisions. Therefore, if it's not a complete waste of time, I can't be disappointed.
I'm also tempted to stand in front a tank and protest this or something drastic like that.
(sexism hat on) "Naturally'', a chick would think SAO was masterful, inventive storytelling, ho ho what with the plot getting derailed by two teenagers falling madly in love against all odds and then living happily ever after a terrible online gaming incident that should've traumatized most if not every person involved.
If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go find a manly anime with masterful, inventive storytelling like Jojo or Hellsing.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!The guy from the Mac Guyver reboot.
Well, technically it was inventive...when the book was released in 2002 before that plot had become oversaturated.
But even as a fan, "Masterful Storytelling" is not how I'd describe it. Its a barely edited webnovel by a guy who was clearly learning as he went with all the problems that come with it. There's a lot I unapologetically like, but especially the early parts are plagued by horrible pacing and contrived conflicts.
I'm personally going in to this with some cautious optimism. Play their cards right and it might actually be good. Just have to wait and see. I wonder how much of SAO Progressive they'll incorporate?
Still, Kazuma Miki is certainly happy. No doubt he was the one that was really pushing for something like this since he dreams of Hollywood
Blog - TumblrYeah... I guess. How many other "trapped in a video game" animes were there really? Heck, even now: re-Zero, Log Horizon, Overlord.
I just don't get this fixation on - "this was popular in one medium, we should bring it over to a different medium." This offends me on three fronts - one, not really seeing SAO as "masterful," not an utter piece of garbage, but definitely not masterful. And two, "shoving this franchise in yet another direction". It's so freaking bank-able it fills me with envy. It's been a webnovel, it's a manga, it's an anime, it's a film, it's got crossovers, probably merch somewhere, and now it's a live-action American series?
And I loathe how, year after year, when something is popular, some director comes along and goes, "I want to make a Bioshock film, a Gears of War film, a Death Note film, a Halo film, Last of Us, Avatar, etc. etc." Some things just don't need to be live-action. The medium betrays the story. The humor, the character's personalities themselves have to change to accommodate the audience. Notice the changes made to Eren Jaegar, to Light Yagami, to Aang Ong.
It's a ballsy move really. Criticism aside, they'll have an audience surely.
If nothing else the visuals/costume design will probably be very good. I'll never bash Assassination Classroom, Gantz, and Parasyte for not paying attention to detail.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!...So how much CGI will be put into this project?
Mileena Madness
Take all the fun out of it why don't you-
I would argue that the first 3 episodes are actually quite good. Any episode with Heathcliff is decent at worst.
