That and the gorn factor lead me to think it needs to go bye-bye. Religion of Evil already has a good pic.

Actually Religion of Evil's pic is Not an Example AND a spoiler. See its own thread.
Just caught that.
I would prefer moving this picture to Religion of Evil. It doesn't fit here, and it's better than the suggestions for that page.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything. How is it that the image◊ manages to be so big anyway? Over 700 pixels wide.

somethingIt was uploaded before there was a width limit. Cropped differently:
(350)
It is a parody of this painting. (The phrase "under God" was added to the pledge of allegiance in 1954, to differentiate Americans from the godless communists. /soapbox)

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Vote to move image to Religion of Evil.
The current image is a bit too open with the corruption, but it works great for Religion of Evil.
I was thinking the fat priests were a pretty easy visual cue for corruption. Still, I'm worried it's a bit too open (Even if the Orzhov are a great example).

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.What are those yellow balls in the first picture supposed to be?
somethingWell, its flavor text says "The Orzhov faithful file past to have their minds purged of "impure" desires. There, the guildwardens eliminate any thoughts of hope or self-sufficiency." So the golden balls should be the mechanism for this. Problem is... those three aren't Orzhov faithful. They're dressed in the livery of rival guilds. No clue why.
The Orzhov are great. I like the Pontiff, but I'm looking to see if there are any better ones.
Ostiary Thrull◊ (this one looks too obviously evil to me)

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.9.1 works for me for Corrupt Church. My only objection to putting the Cthulhu pic on Religion of Evil is the gore...I'd want a mod to OK it.
Still looking for a better image? What about this one? [1]◊
A simple picture, sure, but I think it communicates the point across clearly.

That is, like, Path of Inspiration or something. Or Leader Of The Path maybe.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. The problem I see with that image is that it focuses on a specific figure instead of showing the surrounding elements of the religion. Still an improvement over the current one.
God, Ravnica was such a cool setting.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.How so? Path of Inspiration is supposed to be about an evil religion that's disguised as a good one. Christianity is not evil.
My rationale for using the picture is because the wiki describes Corrupt Church as starting out as 'a legitimate religion that has gone horribly wrong'. I can't see how this can be better communicated than with an image of a clearly Christian priest with the Devil as his shadow (implying corruption or manipulation). Clearly, something has gone horribly wrong.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.I'd consider the priest / Satan one rather pointlessly inflammatory for no reason.
And on a page with No Real Life Examples Please it's a no-no.

Yeah, using a Real Life religion for something like this is way on the bad side of the Rule Of Cautious Editing Judgement.
Reaction Image RepositoryBut it's not saying Christianity is bad or evil but simply showing an individual who's preaching has gone astray?
Anyway, I see there's a lack of support for this suggestion. Moving on.

It could still be considered Flame Bait, though.
Reaction Image RepositoryDefinitely seconding that we shouldn't use a real religion in this trope page. If we have a real religion represented here, nothing good will come of it that wouldn't be reached with a fictional example, but a lot of pointless soapboxing and bitching can be averted by sticking to fiction.
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.Agreement.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.Okay. I still don't see the problem since it's not saying Christianity it evil. It's saying that IF the Devil started manipulating a priest, it would be this trope. Personally, I think you're reading too much into the picture. Also... how else do you communicate a situation of a 'good religion gone bad' without it being confused with Path of Inspiration or Religion of Evil?
Lastly, if you're going to prohibit the use of images that might show real life religion in a negative light, does that mean we should also pull the images for Badass Preacher, Sinister Minister and Pedophile Priest? All of these feature images that can be construed as showing the priests in a negative light. Not looking for trouble; just consistency.
But again, no support. Moving on. Find better suggestions.

Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
The current image seems WAY closer to Religion of Evil or something like that rather than a valid religion that has been twisted. What with Cthulhu as pope and all.
