...now I'm really wondering how the story will continue...
Maybe the emperor might be an idiot again or something...
Give me cute or give me...something?New Chapter.
Some political arrangements concerting the gate with some political concerns about the world powers on our side.
More importantly: Fashion montage!
"What a century this week has been." - Seung Min Kim...You know, there's 6 titles on Mangahere that uses "Gate" (two of which uses it as part of some other word/phrase). Is it really a good idea to link Manga/Gate to this particular title? I mean, this title has a subtitle, while another completely unrelated manga is just named "Gate". FYI, the titles in question:
- Gate
- Gate7
- Gate: Jietai Kare No Chi Nite, Kaku Tatakeri (the manga this topic is dedicated to)
- Tableau Gate
- The Story of the Gatekeeper (manwha)
- Yellow Gate
The more of this I read, the more reminded of The Salvation War I am.
Which is not necessarily a bad thing, but could ultimately be.
Not surprising, given that the writer of the original novels is an ultra-right-wing xenophobe with a titanic hard-on for the military-industrial complex.
Apparently, they had to tone things way down for the manga.
What's precedent ever done for us?RAW for Chapter 22 are up now on Alphapolis, and the accompanying translation more or less done from 4ch.
My comment on this chapter: you'd think that Itami would have learned by now that Rory getting "hot and bothered" foreshadows that there's blood being shed close by, and that there's going to be even MORE blood shed (care of a certain horny demigoddess).
Translated scans are finally up at the usual places. And yes, it clarifies that Rory was okay with some horizontal mambo time with Itami if only to relieve all that horniness she's built up (due to the huge firefight happening close to the inn). Of course, Itami is NOT okay with this, and with good reason — while she's 900+ years old, she looks like she's barely legal.
Oh, and apparently Rory loses all desire when she finally ascends to full godhood (and at her age, she's very close to doing so), so it's no wonder why she's in a hurry to get into Itami's pants.
Of course, with said firefight betting to close, our demigoddess once again lets loose, with expected results: blood and bodyparts everywhere. I still chuckled at the Jojos Bizarre Adventure reference at the end though.

New chapter is out.
I was amused by Risa's analysis of what attracts Itami to the three girls.

We're also seeing hints how Rory might not be enjoy her status as an Apostle as much as she shows. Likely due to the fact that she's very close to ascending, and as such close to losing all vestiges of emotion that she has left.

New chapter.
Tuka's either hiding something magic or is more off-balance from that dragon attack than she lets on.
"What a century this week has been." - Seung Min KimI bet tuka is having some sort of ptsd, or she's just going straight into cloudcuckoolander territory. Anyway once she "discovers" her father is long gone, shit is gonna hit the fun. Just stayed up till 4 in the night to read the 24 chapters, somehow this reminds me of drifters.
True, I'm an idiot. But an exceptional idiot, mind you.New chapter. Yep, she's in serious denial.
"What a century this week has been." - Seung Min Kim
To be fair, no one in Itami's unit has come out and told her directly about what happened to her village.
They haven't? Huh, way to drop the ball there, guys.
Though by now you'd think no one would have to flat out say it.
"What a century this week has been." - Seung Min KimNew chapter!
Where Alnus hill's refugee situation unwittingly gives rise to a booming trade hub. Also, my, they aren't dancing around Tuuka's PTSD, but they're not exactly calling her out on it either, as they're afraid it might just push her over the edge. Also, more stuff for Rory to find interesting in Itami, as a man of contradictions heh.
Ah, and it's hard NOT to miss the look on Leela's master's face.

New month, new chapter!
We FINALLY get into Rory's head, and no surprise, it confirms just her feelings for Itami. Unfortunately the best-laid plans of the demigoddess get ruined by an ill-timed comment by the dark elf visitor. So what does the moment-killed Rory do? Why, a bit of petty pranking, that's what.
And honestly, did we really expect that Dragon to NEVER pop up again? Because obviously it just had to start hunting another subrace of elves this time. Oi.
I have to thank you for saying something here everytime a new chaper is up. :D
Pour y voir clair, il suffit souvent de changer la direction de son regard www.xkcd.com/386/Chapter 28 is up. batoto's translation is bad, though.
This is because AK is fond of taking the first translation that comes out on /a/.
I kind of chuckled at how the dark elf was given the runaround, THEN arrested for something she didn't do. And this time her misfortune wasn't even caused by Rory messing with her.

Seems like you can't catch a break if you have a dark skin tune even if it is another world.
I liked the chapter. I hope they help.
The interactions between medieval fantasy and modern world are one of the things I like most in this manga. Seeing the magician using the power of science discovery to improve her magic was neat.
Realidade
The raws are out in Alphapolis again, as usual, and features a hilariously convoluted plan by the JSSDF to take on the dragon. Unfortunately, it works on a lot of wrong assumptions because apparently Itami neglected to mention in his after-action report that when they first fought the dragon, it was on the ground at the time...

Myssa, we've talked about this. Don't post spoilers for future chapters unmarked. You shouldn't post them at all, but just tag them and I'll stop complaining.
New month, new chapter.
We missed discussing Pina's lawn party, but what's done is done. So this chapter shows that the JSSDF has set up shop right under the Empire's noses, right smack in their capital. It's kind of funny how they've managed to escape the senate's attention by being in a place no one in their right mind would visit, at least without an armed escort: the slums. Specifically the red-light district in the slums, a violent place where crime and death is commonplace. Nice neighborhood eh?
Given where they are, the JSSDF lays low, but still does some social work, though in this case "social work" means selling condoms to the local prostitutes. Oh, and teaching the local gangs that the JSSDF is to be left alone.
Things work out well, but when one of the prostitutes feels an earthquake coming, the JSSDF evacuates their offices, and try to warn as many people as they can. And the earthquake does it, and it's a powerful one indeed.
Oh, and Aohige told me that the random crack about "earthquakes don't happen" is something to pay attention to. Apparently quakes only happen when Hardy uses his powers to open a gate.
This comic is as interesting as Maoyuu. Can't wait for more.
Same as usual.... Wing it.Condoms? I thought they were contraceptive pills >_>
I wonder how much more things would be different if the Gate opened up somewhere else in a different time, like post-Uranus Stalingrad. A place that would be full of soldiers who just finished fighting a long city battle, said soldiers having all the newest Soviet toys to play with, and commanders whose minds have been in in a war stance for a year already.
