I stumbled on this idea while browsing around...

That seems to be Actually Pretty Funny. Does anyone feel up to the task?

I'm a dick and an atheist and even I can see this could be rather...offensive. Although the book of job could be hilarious.

Alls I can say is that it's gonna take an act of God to make Numbers interesting.

Of course it would be offensive. Like a Trey Parker And Matt Stone work. It's kind of the point, really: the humor derives from Refuge in Audacity. Hopefully, the goal is Crossing the Line Twice.

Are you proposing that we make it as collaborative project or is it just that you want to see this made, but you don't trust your own writing-skills enough to do it justice? Either way, this sounds like a great idea and I'm in.

Have you seen the musical "Children Of Eden"? Essentially, it retells parts of Genesis, with the God character "Father" as a character who has to eventually learn that he has to stop trying to control his children's lives.

No, I don't think so. I haven't seen it myself except via youtube videos of some of the songs, but I have the CD.

On a side note, did anyone else know that January 15th is a day where you're supposed to write slash about the pope?

When you're invited to write Slash about the Pope. Anyway, that's offtopic: the only "pope" that's in the bible is St. Peter.

Isn't the whole bible* fanfiction from a certain point of view?* (I refuse to capitalize that word. I have reasons which I think are good enough not to do so).

Only Muslims believe their Holy Book to be the actual literal Word of God. Everyone else just says the authors were "inspired" by the LORD. Well, I don't know about Joseph Smith...

Hey wait. There was only one Jesus in the Bible, so if you write a story about Jesus then it's not Bible fanfiction? :O

@ Tam: I thought that 'bible' uncapitalised just meant 'library'.

And, real-person fics are kind of creepy in my opinion, regardless of whether it's the Pope or the girl down the street.

He was translating plates that were originally written and compiled by Moroni from records his father, Mormon, was working, along with the history of his people all the way back to Joesph, the guy with the coat of many colors. </lesson>

So, yeah, nothing directly written by God, or Jesus for that matter. You think the guy would keep some notes if his disciples were writing down everything.

"Trying to take nap when a storm hit our boat, and everyone panicking woke me up. Made the storm to go on it's way, they sung my praises for hours, and I never finished my nap. Do I have to do everything for them?"

Whether bible fanfiction is Real Person Fic is debatable. And let's leave it at that. Anyway, there's actually plenty of Bible fanfiction out there. Starting with Word of Dante.

Bible-MLP crossover. You all know it's coming, just be prepared.

Speaking of Bible fanfiction, my favourite is Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff. It's hilarious, it's absurd, it accounts for all those missing years from when Christ was an infant to his next appearance in The Bible, and it also made me cry.

Even though I knew what was coming.

There's even a scene where Jesus goes to learn kung fu. Just because. And he creates judo! (Jew-do in the book.)

I've been reading some Neil Gaiman recently.

The potential the Bible has for retelling from alternate POV's is staggering, usually because its stories show extreme myopia in that regard.
