If any console was underrated, it was the Gamecube. I actually remember more great Gamecube games than Nintendo 64 games.
Of course, it didn't have as many good games as the Playstation 2 (One of the best of all time in terms of library), but it certainly had more than the Xbox.
Let's see...
Super Mario Sunshine
Paper Mario, the Thousand Year Door
Pikmin
Pikmin 2
Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
F-Zero GX
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
Resident Evil 4
Luigi's Mansion
Super Smash Brother Melee
Killer 7
Star Wars Rogue Squadron 2: Rogue Leader
And I'm probably still missing a bunch.
If the Wii U doesn't play Gamecube, Nintendo had better give me a damn good reason to buy it, and Pikmin 3 isn't cutting it.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.It doesn't play Gamecube. There's nowhere to plug the cords for the controllers, nor your memory cards.
Oh Pachter. When will you ever learn that criticizing Nintendo every week almost never gets you good feedback or publicity?

More specifically, they're updating the Wii Store to tell Gamecube titles.
Personal preference, but I'd like to see some new IP.
Tired of Mario/Metroid/Zelda/Resident Evil.
They aren't bad games by any stretch, but I don't really like any of those IP's, and it seems to be the entire bulk of nintendo products. Thus I don't have a Wii.
Just saying what it would take for me to buy a Wii.
I find it funny that you said this while pot holing a handful of first party titles.
I don't think many Nintendo fanboys wrote off the N64 because it used cartridges, but it caused a lot of problems with publishers and ended up causing many of them to reconsider developing for the system. It's an attitude that carried into the Gamecube, and in some respects is still present with the Wii.
@L Dragon: Considering how many people link him just to laugh at him, it does seem to generate some publicity for him.

While I haven't really been following E3, what news I have heard is pushing me towards buying a Wii U. Since it's backwards compatible, I won't lose my current library and I'll be able to expand. Win/win for me.
