Inspired by… defines itself as "Semi-intentional Adaptation Decay applied to a true story."
So there seems to be a lot of overlap between Inspired by… and Very Loosely Based on a True Story on the one hand, and Suggested by... and In Name Only on the other, but not between the two.
Calling someone a pedant is an automatic Insult Backfire. Real pedants will be flattered.

I think lebrel is on the right track here. Suggested by...'s description says that it is "Arguably a sort of lampshaded In Name Only," so I wonder if it would make sense to merge those two tropes.
