Original source since the link above left out some info.

Sega made one modern change to Jet Set Radio. You can use the right analog stick to manually control the camera. Oh, and the game will have eighteen new tags from the on-going Jet Set Radio custom graffiti contest. (The demo actually had a custom tag to remind people about the contest.) The bad news is a Sega employee explained Jet Set Radio won’t have online tag sharing even though the Dreamcast release let players download new tags through Sega Net.

EDIT: Jonah, you're mistaken, the two levels added were from the US version of the original game. ALL HD versions are getting those two levels.

As for music, the following tracks remain to be confirmed:

  • Mischievous Boy - Castle Logical
  • Bout the City - the Reps
  • Everybody Jump Around - Richard Jacques
  • Dunnyboy Show/Miller Ball Breakers/On The Bowl/Upset Attack/Yappie feet- Deavid soul
  • Yellow Bream - F-Fields
  • Okay House - Idol Taxi
  • Electric Tooth Brush - Toronto
  • Recipe for the Perfect Afro - Feature Cast
  • Patrol Knob - Mixmaster Mike
  • Just Got Wicked - Cold
  • Many Styles - O.B One
  • Slow - Professional Murder Music
  • Funky Plucker - Semi-Detached

Bantam Street won't be the same without Improvise and Dragula TBH, those made it feel like you were in a whole other city, and one that really wanted to kick your ass, which was perfect. Plus they seemed like Cube and Combo's theme songs, both fit them pretty well in style(Super Brothers seems more like Poison Jam's theme). I doubt Just Got Wicked will stay, and I'd be shocked if Jacques' stuff isn't in. But yeah, no Deavid Soul will hurt this game a lot, he had some of the most memorable stuff second to Hideki. Miller ball Breakers was sick.in fact, Benten levels period wouldn't be the same without his stuff, and they were some of the best levels in the game.

GROSS.

Joystiq reported about a month ago that only half of the tracks, meaning around 16 are going to be in. And no Deavid Soul.

I gotta say, that's hurting it for me. I hope that changes between then and the release.

Siliconera had an article (that I can't seem to find now) about Sega incurring a lot of losses and having to restructure. If that's the case, they may not have the extra money to get licenses for the more expensive songs.

[up][up]On top of that many of the bands and companies that owned those songs aren't around anymore. They have no one to pay for the songs in some cases.

Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!

[up][up]And a lot of memorable ones won't. Benten especially got hit hard, nearly all the songs that were thematic to it aren't in. No Miller Ball Breakers, No electric toothbrush, no yappie feet, no yellow bream...ugh. No Bout the City? Monster of Kogane level is not going to be the same, and that was a Crowning Music Of Awesome for that stage. They don't even have Up Set attack, which was the first actual level music you heard in the game.

Also, the lack of tracks means we're going to be repeating songs a lot more.

The only thing that can save this is if they replaced the missing tracks with say some of the JSRF ones and in addition add some of ollie Street King's stuff in there. That'd be awesome.

Sure, you can use custom soundtrack option but let's be real: NEVER as good as actually having it in-game, plus it won't mix like it would with the other in-game tracks. Though, I suppose if you used the entire medley...

[up][up] Heh, JSRF was the first game I ever had for the xbox [still have it somewhere, but its probably too scratched up to use]; I recall that I took a sort of masochistic liking to that damned song smile

[up][up]Legal reasons.

The songs have now fallen into legal limbo, nobody has the right to legally use them until they become public domain

At least, I think that's how it works.

Vita's stepping up its game, I'll give it that. Gravity Daze and JSR? Looking better now.

But I'm not digging all the missing soundtracks. This went from a day-1 must buy to a maybe.

That's better then I expected it to be. I'll miss those two tracks, but if it's got the music from the European version and the Japanese re-release, I might consider getting this.

Edit: Wait a minute. If Yappie Feet is gone, why is the rest of Deavid Soul's music apparently still in the game? If it's right issues, wouldn't the rest of his work not be in the game?

I have a feeling that they're playing an earlier build based off of De La Jet Set Radio (the above mentioned re-release that had the soundtrack from every version), and that the one we're getting will only have half the tracks as previously stated.

[up]Yeah, that article seems too good to be true if you ask me.

But if it is true, day 1 buy. Many styles I can deal without, never cared much for that track anyway. Yappie Feet will be missed though. Miller Ball Breakers is in, On The Bowl is in, Everybody Jump Around, Super Brother/Magical Girl, Bout The city, and the extra stuff. OH CRAP, Recipe for the Perfect Afro is in too then? Freakin win. If true, best JSR version yet, assuming everything else is awesome. I just hope they have more than one verse of the U.S songs this time.

Lulz at the salt for the U.S Tracks. People complaining how they aren't Japanese enough missed the entire point of the levels if you ask me, considering Grind City was in America and was in darker state different than that of Tokyo-to, which the music captured IMO. The music felt different because it was a different kind of atmosphere, it SHOULD feel different. Plus I actually liked Just Got Wicked, that rendition of Dragula and Improvise. That IS combo's theme song for me. I always kind of associated certain songs with the characters:

  • Beat: Everybody Jump Around
  • Tab/Corn: That's Enough
  • Gum: Magical Girl
  • Garam: Miller Ball Breakers
  • Mew/Bis/Rhyth: Mischievous Boy
  • Yoyo: Upset Attack
  • Combo: Improvise
  • Cube: Dragula(super brother actually plays during her challenge, but that's more of PJ's theme if you ask me plus I always used Cube first in Bantam street so this one would always be the first one I heard).
  • Pirahna/Sugar/Boogie: Yappie Feet
  • Slade/Soda: Sneakman
  • Poison Jam: Super Brother
  • Noise Tanks: On The Bowl(yappie feet actually plays during their battle but it seems to fit Boogie more, this one sounds similar enough to fit them, plus you first hear it in Benten)
  • Love Shockers: never really had one for them..I guess the taxi one?
  • Goji: Grace and Glory
