Neon Genesis Evangelion starring Asa Butterfield as Shinji, Hailee Steinfeld as Rei and AbigailBreslin as Asuka.
Yes, I went there.
You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction. No mention for Code Geass? I got real Star Wars vibes from that show - it could be really good as a Live Action Film, if it got a good treatment.
x4 After seeing Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, I actually think that a Fooly Cooly movie may actually work.
Maybe...
For it to work, it would probably have to be made in Japan.
- Patrick Stewart or Christopher Lee for The Emperor
- Ken Watanabe for Tohdoh
Also, Shakugan No Shana with James Earl Jones as the voice of Alastor and Christopher Lee as the voice of Snake of the Festival.
Jojos Bizarre Adventure. I haven't even read it and to me it makes sense. Most of the characters aren't Japanese, so you can get away with whitewashing (hell, you could justify Jotaro looking white as part of his British roots), and the music references will definitely be recognized. Yes, this is assuming you start with Part 3.
While we're talking about "not Japanese", I'm also nominating One Piece. Yes, I'm going there.
"Franky: USA"
..... - _ - ....... I'll let that one slide.
Another the anime (The Haunted Classroom with a School-Girl curse) I can see it working as a mystery movie with teenage actors...
Clay More could have good potential- seeing as it's set in a fictional Medieval Europe/France town and we NEED more female role-models in movies, the Claymores can be the Amazon Brigade and have blonde wigs. The Youma can be special effects and translated as Demons in the dub.

In an anime, I'll be the Tsundere Dark Magical Girl who likes purple MY own profile is actually HERE!The mecha franchise that I think would work best in live-action Hollywood style is Votoms. It's the grittiest of them, and takes Western war films as inspiration, such as Saving Private Ryan in The Pailsen Files.
ARIA is the only moë show I can imagine being both feasible and marketable, and even that one would need a lot of changes. I find the "cats" downright disturbing as they are, they would have to be completely redesigned to fit in along real actors.
A blog that gets updated on a geological timescale. The Haruhi Suzumiya series.
BRIAN BLESSED as Haruhi, Patrick Stewart as Kyon, Liam Neeson as Koizumi, Mister T as Nagato, and Mila Kunis as Asahina, with M Night Shaymalan as director, and Shigeru Miyamoto as producer.
One can dream.
If you wanna PM me, send it to my mrsunshinesprinkles account; this one is blorked. That's certainly... an unusual cast.
Nnnn... I've always been cautious when approaching the subject of live-action anime adaptions. Most anime series are pretty long, and you just CAN'T squeeze everything into a single movie without it becoming a trainwreck... The only decent movie adaption of anime I've ever seen is the Death Note trilogy, and even that was a little confusing.
Because Hollywood the only place in the world, which produces movies
I hate to say it, but Hollywood seems to be one of the few places with enough money to do justice to many anime and manga, were they to ever get a major studio behind it. The Japanese live action adaptations I've seen tend look like terribly cheep 70's B movies.
Something like Negima or Gundam would take a budget on at least on the level of Lord Of The Rings (filmed in New Zealand, but mostly with American money) or Star Trek scale to pull off.
A medium budget historical samauri drama, on the other hand, would be right up the alley for Japan's movie industry.

Too bad Hollywood always seem to miss the point of what people like about anime and all these films become flops.
