Ah yep, trying to find a town isn't easy. One can also find a Floran jail or temple to find the stuff needed.

Bah the lag fixes are hit and miss. Underground they hardly work but as long as I keep things around me dead and take it slow it can play. They really need to fix the performance issues of this game.

So is the YMMV page right? This is actually an always online game even in singleplayer?

So the reason there's lag in singleplayer is because you are still connecting to a server (your own). [lol]

I'll probably head back to the ocean planet to find the Hylotl city after I farm Durasteel from this radioactive world to at least build the Pixel Compressor.

Conveniently, they're both in this radioactive star so it shouldn't take any fuel to fly back there.

So I loaded up my save while in my ship when my ship FTL jumped to a random planet I've never been to before and all my bookmarked locations were deleted, including the outpost. Did I just lose all my bases and everything on them? Do I need to start from scratch again? Thankfully I moved most of my goods to my ship, but I left all my fancy crafting stations at one of my ground bases.

I think your bases are still there, you just have to go to where they were. If you can remember what star and planet the bases were, that'd be helpful. At least the name, and I hope your bases' stars are nearby so you can just scan them.

Also to get back to the outpost you'll just have to open one of the ancient gateways (at the edge of many solar systems) or back home at the lush planet you started on.

One of the theories is that it is some sort of DRM mucking up the performance and that it treats every launched instance like someone launching their own server.

And apparently what it might be for many is the dumping of the Direct X version. For those who are reporting problems now, had it work just fine under direct X. Now it is all Open GL stuff.

y'know. neat in concept as it is

i dont like the inspect treasure hunt requirements to move onto the next quest

sometimes settlements dont even spawn the necessary items required to max out the bar

and its not like theres any way to guarantee a floran settlement spawns on the world type esther says they do so you're basically flying blind hoping to find one

You find the objects in dungeons too even if there isn't a town. Exploring 2 planets should get everything you need at least although I have am 3 for 3 in doing it in 1 planet and the Florian one didn't have a town.

i had to go through 3 floran villages and a dungeon, found through forum coordinates, to get find the required stuff to unlock the mission.

i had a staggering amount of bad luck

Each planet with a Floran settlement tends to have at least one item that provides a large boost to your scanning progress bar. You might just have to spend a little too much time hunting it down.

So I managed to find coordinates for a system where one of my bases was at. I was figuring that from there I could find the rest. But then when I loaded up Starbound, my character was gone. It's no longer on the list when I hit "continue". So that's 20+ hours of gameplay down the drain. Maybe it had something to do with my workshop mods.

Time for a new one, I guess.

Edit: It was indeed the mods. All of mine are disabled for some reason. Let's see if I can't save them. 2nd edit: SAVED IT. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and it was right back on the list.

Congrats at least it's still there.

So I still got sidetracked from the Ocean ruins thing.

First I'm still mining Durasteel from the radioactive planet, and next, my first Floran colonist wants a sciency neighbor.

Also, is there away to mine or loot a story dungeon? There seems to be a lot of interesting stuff on the mining base I could use like crates and bunk beds, that would work well on my ship. (And of course, I did get some schematics, but would like to skip making them.)

Are Glitch settlements supposed to attack me on sight? I found a castle previously in a desert planet and that's what the outpost archer did...

[up]That was a hostile glitch castle. Not all of them are friendly.

Well that explains it. I never questioned the Floran temple characters being hostile though.

And also do stuff I examine before I get the quest count for the progress bar? I mean, I can examine said Glitch castle before the quest starts and not get screwed over later.

I don't know if dungeon looting is still in. They had a device to you had switch off or disable before you could swipe anything. I don't know if that is still the case or if it is just perma protected.

Nope, it's perma-protected. Heck you can't even place platforms to climb on, let alone move parts of the scenery.

Eh. I am not overly bothered with it. Some of the dungeon stuff was neat but nothing I will mind missing out on.

Pretty much any block types or objects you see in one of the story dungeons you can find elsewhere, anyway.

And that is why.

I am going to test something and see if starbound runs better if not then well darn.

I'm trying to save the universe, thus all of my theft is justified. You can bill The Federation or something after I rebuild it, after I've saved the goddamn universe.

You know that and I know that, but they don't know that. I think; I'm not sure if anyone's actually bothering to tell all those castles, temples and villages out there that the Earth just exploded, so if you're willing to change that theft charge to fraud...
