So Sony's E3 press conference happened, including the unveiling of Kojima's new game.

Let's just say I'm now eagerly awaiting the next Jimquisition because Kojima just delivered the best "Fuck Konami" of all. Or if you prefer, he's The Man Who Trolled The World.

Not just Kojima. Have you seen the Resident Evil 7 trailer/demo? Even Capcom have jumped aboard the "Fuck Konami" train [lol] .

Oh, yeah, I forgot about that. I actually forgot all about "The Kitchen" until it came up again. They ripped off P.T. and made their own version.

[edit]: Oh snap he's at it again:

Heh, the moment I read Nintendo's inane excuses I thought Jim would make a video out of it. I didn't expect it would be so fast, though!

It's Jim fucking Sterling, Son, we're talking about here. He breaks the chains of love, and we are expected to thank God for that, and for him.

Basically my opinion. On its own, no biggie. But Aonuma's comments are a classic case of Digging Yourself Deeper and just make him look not very bright. Reminds me of his sensible stance on Quiet too where if Kojima just wanted a Ms. Fanservice and gave no fucks it'd have been better than the whole "breathes through her skin" excuse.

Yeah, that made sense. The Jimquisition, I mean, not Aonuma.

Seriously, though, a game with Zelda as the main character would be pretty boss. Finally a good excuse to seriously experiment with the gameplay.

Link being a women, yeah, I'd take that as well, if only for the novelty. Won't be pushing hard for it, but I'd take it.

[up][up]Pretty much, yeah.

(Also Sterling's various ideas sound pretty fun).

Man. I need to finish Skyward Sword. Also pop in Twilight Princess HD which I bought.

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks did have Zelda as a playable character, and arguably just as vital to the game as Link.

Damn, I totally forgot about Spirit Tracks. Zelda-as-Alphonse was probably the best thing about that game IMO.

I quite enjoyed the video, though I'm frustrated that I'm probably going to wait til Monday for the inevitable Fuck Konami News.

I'm actually quite surprised that Jim didn't bring up Linkle, who not only is in the aforementioned Hyrule Warriors (albeit and updated re-release) but is literally a female version of Link you can play as.

Also, would I be out of line to suggest that perhaps Aonuma, being a Japanese creator, was misquoted, either on purpose or due to a lapse in translation? I mean the second quote is from Kotaku for Pete's sake!

[Edit] Oh, and also Vanquish was awesome.

Jim Sterling talks about the amount of violence shown in the games at this year's E3:

One game that Jim did not mention is I think Shenmue 3 will feel the pressure moreso than any other Kickstarter Game. It's arguably gotten the biggest exposure.

It's certainly the one (of the Kickstarters I've backed that haven't yet released) I'm most nervous about, at any rate.

I do think Yu Suzuki is a far, far more competent game designer than Keiji Inafune turned out to be, if only by virtue of having as many contemporaneously envelope-pushing titles under his belt as he does, though I must admit the initial Q&A session was pretty amateur hour. (Although, they've apologized profusely for it, and the guys constantly bobbing their heads in agreement the entire time aren't actual devs on the team, so it's not like they'd directly impact the game quality even if they hadn't...)

Shit, listening to the new Podquisition and Jim wasn't kidding when he said the show would turn to shit when Laura takes her surgery leave. Jim's recording and editing software completely fucked up, so now it sounds like they're talking through the phone, and as it turns out, Laura was a big help steering the ship, since they've been divulging into tangents longer than normal.

It's still a fun listen so far, but it's a bit incredible how many things screwed up at the same ime without her.

I haven't had a chance to listen yet, but from reading her Twitter, Laura is also not having a fun time right now. Sounds like she's pretty sick, and in a lot of pain from the surgery.
