Pretty good vid that is fairly balanced. Shenmue 3 is going to get a pass because its freaking Shenmue 3, but games companies have all the leverage in manipulating our emotions by telling us we are going to get a lite game if we don't donate more. The $10 mill thing by Suzuki kind of hurts, but realistically $2 mill wasn't going to cut it anyway.
I can see where people are coming from with BGE 2 as the example. I just don't relate to things like Activision crowdfunding COD however.

Shenmue 3 is going to get a pass and they know it. That's why they did it with Shenmue 3.
In law, this would be considered the establishing of a precedent. Future cases of this behavior will cite Shenmue 3 and the fact that we allowed it then. In parenting, it's known as, "If I give you a cookie, then I have to give everyone a cookie."
They gave us a hook they knew we would bite in order to get their foot in the door. Now that it's been written in stone that this behavior is acceptable, the next step is simply gauging how far they can push it - and, if DLC and Pre-Order Culture is any indication, the answer is "All the way."
To quote Jack Sparrow when he outnegotiated the spawn of the devil and Cthulhu, "We've established my proposal as sound in principle. Now, we're just haggling over a price." That is what Shenmue 3 has done.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Fair enough. I do think it's a inevitability that we're going to see those Beyond Good and Evil 2 or, more damnable, Devil May Cry 5 next.
Special Podcast: Jim Sterling And Digital Homicide Hash It Out
This is fun to listen to.
Direct all enquiries to Jamie B GoodBarely even fifteen minutes in and the troll logic is overwhelming.
How is this going to help with DH's reputation, again?
The bit about leeches was priceless.
Oh my God. This is hilarious. The backwards logic at play is astounding.
My favorite bit is when DH play a bit from an earlier Jimquisition episode about Jim breeding Mutants to take over the world, and DH refers to it either as actual evidence that Jim sends out his viewers to attack indie developers, or a metaphor for Jim sending out his viewers to attack indie developers.
My favorites were when Jim looked up the definition of a leech and when that guy(Robert) accused Jim of being a hypocrite for attacking Six Nights at Suzie's because he had a three foot dildo in an episode.
"You stifle innovation!"
This is a typical narcissistic reaction; attempting to use asinine logic (similarities in their mediums, pointless ‘factoids’ like the release/development dates etc) to out the other person as a hypocrite. Long story short you cannot get through to a man who would die defending this "preferred" identity.
I know that he was obviously upset, but, now that I know his age, it is even more concerning to me about how he acted. This wasn’t an interview; this was a witch hunt and Robert wanted Jim to get a buuuuuurrrrnnn so bad he cannot even start a reasonable argument.
Man, Rob got his head far up his own ass

I'll admit, the "interview" with Digital Homicide took me a couple days to go through. Just because every couple of minutes I needed to pause the video and walk away in order to attempt to process the stupid insanity of it all.
The really sad part is that you can kinda see the directions and trains of thought that Robert is trying to establish, but you can also see how every one of those is doomed to crash and burn. It's hard for me to tell if he's actively trying to manipulate the conversation or if he's just that ignorant. I can't even blame Jim for straight-up laughing at his face an hour in; unprofessional as it may be, that "example" was too mind-blowingly priceless to remain straight-faced. The only thing I think Jim should've mentioned (as futile as it may have been) is that DH's "input" was as bare-bones as possible in simply making the game function, while Jim creates value with his insight, opinions, and humor.
Overall, this makes the Molyneaux interview with Rock Paper Shotgun seem tame in comparison. At least Molyneaux can arguably still be seen as a genuine auteur, as opposed to this idiot.

So you could say digital homicide is committing digital suicide

Presenting!I listened to about ten minutes and then turned it off because the Digital Homicide guy is just so intent on painting himself with the Victim Brush.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.The developer lacks a fundamental understanding of the purpose of criticism. In any other case this would be funny but nt from a man in his mid-30's.
I haven't been able to bring myself to listen to it, honestly. Even the snippets I've heard have been just cringe inducing.
Ark: Survival something... He took it down as he didn't feel happy about it, like "Wow this video is sht, delete it!"
